PwC: Drones will soon replace $127 billion in human labor

For many people, drones are a wonderful gift or a fun toy, but games are obviously only a small part of the value that this technology creates for consumers. In fact, drones will completely change the way many companies do business. A research report released by PricewaterhouseCoopers on the 9th estimated that in the "very near future", drones will replace $127 billion worth of human services and labor.

It’s understandable why companies are embracing this new technology. Drones offer an aerial perspective, can be used for real-time surveillance (useful for industries like security, insurance, and media), and can reduce the need for human labor in dangerous jobs (like mining and construction). Companies like Amazon and Google want to use drones to make deliveries faster and more efficient.

PwC believes that the infrastructure sector, including energy, rail, oil and gas, will benefit the most from the development of drone technology. In this sector, they estimate that drones will replace $45.2 billion worth of services and labor.
