After eliminating the color difference of various details one by one, people often find that the light is so different. The light in the furniture blogger's home is either warm and natural skylight, or warm home light created by various warm yellow table lamps; while most people's homes only have a white and "hard" top light - the white and bright light sprinkled from the roof, even if it is a completely identical home, it will go from being full of atmosphere to being "ugly".

For a long time, many people have only one requirement for lights: bright enough. If they are more particular, they will add two more words: energy saving. However, no one cares about the color temperature of the light and other dimensions.

Little do people know that using lights in such a careless way can really harm your body and your heart.

The lighting color temperature is wrong, and the atmosphere is completely useless

The different colors of light that we see with our naked eyes can actually be described by a more rigorous word - color temperature.

Color temperature is a dosage unit that describes the color components in light. When the color temperature of the lamp is lower, the light will be warmer and yellower; and when the color temperature is higher, the light will be cooler and whiter.

For example, the incandescent lamps commonly seen in our daily lives usually have a color temperature between 2700K and 3000K. They emit yellow or orange light, just like the light at sunrise or sunset, which gives us a warm and comfortable feeling. They are usually used to create a soft and warm atmosphere. In places like cafes and restaurants that have a warm atmosphere, the lights we see are basically low color temperature.

The light with a color temperature between 3300K and 5300K is closer to natural and bright sunlight, and is an intermediate color. This light looks bright and natural, and will not make people drowsy and relaxed like light with a low color temperature, but can keep people in a relatively high-spirited and focused state. This kind of light is usually used in offices, schools and other places to provide a clear and comfortable visual environment.

Light with a color temperature higher than 5300K will be noticeably cold, too bright or even cold. This kind of light with a blue hue often appears in warehouses, hospitals, operating rooms and other places, and is often used in scenes that need to create a sense of futurism, technology, or coldness.

In general, lights of different color temperatures have their own applicable places. When light is placed in the wrong place, it not only affects the atmosphere of the space, but also affects our state.

Lighting really affects the state

For example, in a home environment that should be warm and comfortable, if you use lights with a high color temperature, the home will be too bright, and at first glance it will feel like you are in a company, and you will not be able to relax at all.

Working like a slave under the big white LED lights at work during the day, and then being enveloped by the cold white light again when you get home, not only will your nerves, which have been tense all day, be unable to relax, but even your tired eyes will be further damaged.

In particular, typical LED lights are a mixture of blue and yellow light, with a higher dose of blue light than natural or incandescent light. Although it is a normal part of natural light, moderate exposure during the day can help us boost our spirits and regulate our circadian rhythms - but if we are shrouded in cold LED lights from morning to night, there is a problem of excessive exposure to blue light.

This will not only keep us in a state of nervousness throughout the day, making it difficult to relax and even affecting our sleep, but it is also not very friendly to our eyes.

High doses of blue light have been proven to be toxic to the retina by multiple studies. Excessive exposure to blue light will not only cause eye fatigue, but may even lead to a slow loss of vision throughout our lives. The impact of LEDs will be even more obvious for the elderly and children.

Even if you are healthy, too much exposure to blue light, especially at night, can affect our circadian rhythm. For example, the relentless cold white light overhead light in your bedroom can really keep you awake.

But LED lights are not completely useless.

In offices and classrooms, where bright light is needed to concentrate, LED lights are indeed better than incandescent lights. If we use lights with a low color temperature in such scenes, we will fall into a drowsy atmosphere and it will be difficult to concentrate on work and study.

In short, there is nothing wrong with the light itself. What is wrong is that it is used in the wrong place.

How to change the light? Look at these indicators

After reading this, you must be eager to replace the lights in your home. So, what should we pay attention to when choosing new lights?

First, choose the color temperature of the light according to the usage scenario.

For example, when choosing lights for our furniture scenes, it is recommended to choose lights with lower temperatures. Note that the lower the color temperature, the better. If the color temperature is too low, the whole space will appear too warm or even dim. Too much is as bad as too little.

It is usually recommended to choose warm light between 2700K and 3500K in bedrooms, bathrooms and other spaces. This can not only prevent us from being unable to fall asleep due to white light before going to bed, but also prevent us from being suddenly awakened by the bright white light when going to the toilet at night.

In places like living rooms and dining rooms, the color temperature can be slightly higher to provide a brighter feeling.

In addition to paying attention to color temperature, you also need to pay attention to the color rendering index. The higher the color rendering index, the stronger the ability of the light to restore the color of the object - in short, the more you can see is what you get.

In addition, based on eye health considerations, it is also important to choose bulbs with low blue light, no flicker, and low glare to avoid your eyes being harmed by inferior bulbs without knowing it.

Don’t make do with just the right lamps anymore, get a good one and you’ll find your state, mood and health are all better.
