On the second floor of the Ancient Ocean Exhibition Hall, there is a group of little elves with long necks and tails and different postures. They are the protagonist of our story today - Hu's Guizhousaurus. The species of Hu's Guizhousaurus was first discovered by Mr. Hu Chengzhi in Xingyi, Guizhou in 1957, and was named Hu's Guizhousaurus by Mr. Yang Zhongjian. Hu's Guizhousaurus is the first Triassic marine reptile discovered in my country, opening the prelude to the study of Xingyi-Fuyuan fauna and even Triassic marine reptiles in my country. Guizhousaurus Hu is a fin-like reptile. Unlike ichthyosaurs, they have only initially adapted to aquatic life, and their limbs are not specialized into fins. This can also be speculated to a certain extent that they usually live in shallow coastal waters. Guizhousaurus Hu has a small and pointed snout and sharp conical teeth, which to a certain extent indicates that although Guizhousaurus Hu is small in size, it is still a carnivorous reptile and may mainly feed on fish and shrimp. In our impression, reptiles usually reproduce by laying eggs. However, the pelvic structure of Guizhousaurus and its long oval cylindrical humerus indicate that their reproduction method is likely to be ovoviviparous, and their eggs are not hatched in the external environment, but in the mother's body. In some fossil specimens, Guizhousaurus fossils of young were even found in the mother's abdomen. |
