The new infrastructure with a 34 trillion yuan investment has computing power as its core driving force

The foundation of digital transformation is "new infrastructure" - information digital infrastructure represented by 5G, artificial intelligence, and data centers.

According to media statistics, the total investment brought by the new infrastructure is nearly 34 trillion yuan. In the medium and long term, this measure will continue to transform the economic growth model and shift the economic structure to an emerging economy represented by the digital economy.

The first mention of data center "engine" reserves sufficient kinetic energy

At present, the "stay-at-home economy" has exploded against the trend, and "cloud industries" such as e-commerce, online education, and online office have grown by dozens of times, and the data centers behind them have shown great value. The country has also accelerated its layout and mentioned data centers for the first time in the new infrastructure, which is enough to show its great significance. Data centers are the way of existence of "computing power" and play the role of "engine" of the digital economy. Computing is becoming the most basic social infrastructure like water and electricity, and computing power is productivity.

In the connotation of new infrastructure, computing power is the core and data is the element. Driven by the vigorous development of cloud computing and big data, the amount of data has shown explosive growth, and the demand for data centers will continue to grow. According to the data in the "2018-2019 China IDC Industry Development Research Report", the total scale of China's IDC business market was 37.22 billion yuan in 2014, and the total scale of China's IDC business market reached 122.8 billion yuan in 2018. It is expected that the market scale will exceed 200 billion yuan in 2020.

Industry insiders believe that computing equipment such as servers and storage and cloud computing software will become rigid demands. For example, in the hardware cost of a CSP cloud platform, servers are the largest investment, accounting for as much as 75%.

5G ushered in the era of large-scale customization of telecommunications servers

Many main lines in the new infrastructure, such as artificial intelligence and industrial Internet, require 5G as support. The forward-looking team of CITIC Securities Research Department predicts that investment in 5G-related infrastructure can reach 380-400 billion yuan. Telecom operators will become the main leaders in 5G construction, and the three major operators plan to build 550,000 base stations throughout the year. With the deep integration of IT, CT and DT, the ICT infrastructure of the telecommunications industry is constantly open and standardized, and operators are in urgent need of customized servers.

Inspur's JDM model is the most typical example of large-scale customization of servers. Inspur explored this model in the process of cooperating with large Internet customers at home and abroad, and is now replicating it in the telecommunications industry. Inspur and China Telecom have successively formed a complete product group suitable for typical operator business scenarios in the fields of high-density computing, big data, distributed block storage, cold data storage, artificial intelligence, and NFV. It has been widely used in China Telecom's existing network, effectively promoting cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Application is the bottleneck for the development of new technologies such as 5G and edge computing. Operators have been exploring the application scenarios of these new technologies. The exploration and development of new scenarios require the cooperation and guarantee of customized solutions from ICT manufacturers. With the popularization of 5G commercialization, JDM and other similar customized models will have greater space.

Computing power is the cornerstone of seizing the "high ground" of artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is the core "high ground" of the future game between major powers, and computing is the cornerstone of AI development. my country's total AI investment and financing accounts for 60% of the world, but only companies at the scale of BAT have the funds and capabilities to build large-scale AI computing platforms. AI applications such as autonomous driving, AI education, and AI medical care need to be equipped with corresponding computing environments to continue to innovate. The rapid development of computing power can promote the maturity of application scenarios in various industries and form a healthy AI industry ecosystem.

At present, the industrialization of AI has been accelerated. The proposal of new infrastructure has undoubtedly injected a "catalyst" into the development of AI industrialization, which will greatly promote the coordinated development of AI infrastructure, algorithms, and industrial applications. Wang Endong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief scientist of Inspur Group, pointed out that intelligent computing represented by artificial intelligence computing will create the necessary conditions for the development of the new economy. In the next three to five years, intelligent computing will account for more than 80% of the total computing investment.
