Ford recently said that the cumulative orders for the upcoming all-electric pickup Ford F-150 Lightning have exceeded 160,000 units, which is about 10,000 more than when the model entered the pre-production stage in mid-September. Ford's previous production targets for this model were to produce 15,000 units in 2022, 55,000 units in 2023, and 80,000 units in 2024. Based on this calculation, the production capacity of F-150 Lightning in three years is about 150,000 units, so Ford is currently facing a very difficult problem of supply and demand. Although not all orders will be converted into production tasks, even if the conversion rate is only 50%, the production pressure on Ford's factories is still great. Currently, the F-150 Lightning has closed its reservation window, and the original plan to reopen it on October 26 has not been fulfilled. It is reported that Ford will reopen the reservation of this model in December. On September 28, Ford Motor Company and South Korea's SK Innovation announced that they would invest US$11.4 billion (approximately RMB 72.9 billion) to build three new battery production lines and a Ford electric pickup F-150 assembly plant in the United States, of which Ford will invest US$7 billion (approximately RMB 44.75 billion) for this purpose.
