Volkswagen: In Q2 2022, Volkswagen's U.S. deliveries were only 78,281 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 34%.

Volkswagen's U.S. auto sales weakened further, likely due to some severe supply challenges and limited new vehicle availability following an already weak first quarter. The company reported second-quarter vehicle deliveries of just 78,281, down 34% from a year ago. Meanwhile, deliveries of the Volkswagen ID.4 fell 71% year-over-year to 1,660 units, accounting for 1.2% of total deliveries.

This is clearly the worst result for the ID.4 since its launch in the United States, and considering the high number of orders (over 40,000 reservations at the end of 2021), it suggests that Volkswagen is not sending too many cars from Europe.

Perhaps things will improve later this year, as VW's plant in Zwickau is now running three shifts again, and production in Emden is also ramping up. However, the real changes for the ID.4 will come with local production in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Still, even with limited supply, Volkswagen ID.4 cumulative sales in the United States have now exceeded 20,000 (21,157 as of the end of June, to be exact).

Detailed report data:

The 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 model has been improved compared to the 2021 model. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency's testing procedures, its range can be improved by up to 7-8%.
