IBM Chief Scientist: AlphaGo does not have even 1% of talent

Ever since Google's artificial intelligence AlphaGo defeated Korean chess player Lee Sedol, artificial intelligence has once again become a hot topic of public discussion.

Su Zhong, research director of IBM China Research Institute and chief scientist of big data and cognitive computing research, said in an interview with reporters recently that due to the existence of big data, the computing power of machines is getting faster and faster, but from computing to helping humans make personalized decisions, this is the core part of cognitive computing and the most valuable part of artificial intelligence.

"AlphaGo doesn't even have 1% of talent. Its talent comes from its massive computing and the development of machine deep learning," said Su Zhong. "Deep learning is a 'black box'. People can't explain what goes in and what comes out, but AIphaGo found the regularity inside."

Su Zhong said that when we talk about machines using big data, we mean that they can assist people in making decisions. Just like airplanes, which have automatic driving, pilots can basically be relaxed at any time. But still no one dares to say, let the machine drive.

"Because the basis of autonomous driving is still under normal circumstances, after the data is input, it may drive more accurately than humans and is less likely to make mistakes. But under abnormal circumstances, machines lack the ability to expand their thinking. Artificial intelligence does not know how humans think, and does not know what the logic behind our infinite possibilities is, so the current artificial intelligence is weak to some extent." Su Zhong said.

"Artificial intelligence may play a significant role in the fields of medicine and education." Su Zhong said that with the help of big data, artificial intelligence can assist human decision-making through massive amounts of data. "For example, in the medical field, in the future, machines can use cognitive computing to understand images and text information in medical cases, and issue research reports that doctors can use to make decisions."
