BMW workers back strike over pension dispute

According to foreign media reports, workers at BMW Group's Mini and Rolls-Royce factories in the UK voted to strike and stop production in response to the German automaker's decision to stop providing final salary pensions to workers .

The BMW Group plans to stop offering final salary pension plans to employees starting next year, and the benefits of all employees will be affected to a certain extent.

More than 4,000 workers from five major production bases in the UK, including Mini's Oxford plant and Rolls-Royce 's Goodwood plant, have been asked whether they want to join the strike.

About 75% of workers participated in the vote, with 96% of factories supporting it. The United Workers Union said in a statement that it would arrange another comprehensive statutory strike action vote, which would be more convincing and the strike action would proceed as scheduled.
