Once a brand is delisted, even if it can be reorganized, its competitiveness will be gone, and it will not only hurt the brand itself, but also consumers. It can be said that the delisting of brands has led to chaos in the aftermarket. Policies are difficult to guarantee, and companies are helpless. Who should consumers rely on for their rights? It was this recall information that brought GAC Gonow, a company that had never attracted media attention, into the public eye. The reason why this company had never received attention was that the annual sales of this manufacturer were too small. In 2013, the sales volume of all models was only 36,000 units. But the reason why the recall information made GAC Gonow so popular is that GAC Gonow was acquired by Guangzhou Automobile Group Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd. in March this year. All models of the original Gonow have been discontinued, and only the GAC Gonow brand has been retained, which means that GAC Gonow is no longer able to take responsibility for the recalled cars. Although the person who tied the bell must untie it, the company's suspension of production has caused the loss of most parts suppliers, and the old brand has been delisted, leaving the new buyer helpless. Nowadays, with the intensified competition in my country's automobile industry and the government's willingness to eliminate "zombie enterprises" has increased, brand delisting seems to have become the norm. However, after delisting, subsequent maintenance and repair of automobiles have become "difficult and complicated problems." There are more than isolated cases of similar problems, but who should guarantee the rights and interests of consumers? The company stopped production, and the remaining problems were left to the team As early as May this year, nearly 100 GAC Gonow dealers and investors from all over the country gathered at the headquarters of GAC Gonow Automobile Co., Ltd. to demand an explanation from GAC Gonow. According to relevant information, the financial chain of GAC Gonow was broken in 2014. It had no money to purchase parts from suppliers, which led to the inability to carry out normal production. Each of its dealers was owed hundreds of thousands or even millions of yuan in car deposits and rebates by GAC Gonow. However, the fuse was finally ignited in April this year when GAC Gonow officially stopped production. Not only dealers, but also car owners have long been crying out for help. Gonow is a niche brand with a low market retention rate. Before the suspension of production, many car owners had already encountered many inconveniences in after-sales maintenance. After the suspension of production, dealers naturally withdrew from the network in large numbers, and parts could not be supplied, making it even more difficult to protect the after-sales rights of Gonow car owners. One car owner once complained: "I regret buying this Gonow car so much." Industry insiders have said that GAC Gonow is still in existence and can be responsible for recall matters. But what exactly is the recall? After GAC Gonow was acquired by Guangzhou Automobile Group Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of GAC Group, it was renamed GAC Passenger Vehicle Hangzhou Branch. Previously, GAC Gonow's models were still managed by Gonow. It is understood that some of the original GAC Gonow employees have been transferred to GAC Passenger Vehicle Hangzhou employees, and GAC Passenger Vehicle has only retained a GAC Gonow team to be responsible for the aftermath of GAC Gonow's suspension of production and name change. At present, the authorized repair shops provided by GAC Gonow have changed brands or closed down, and the repair points that really accept GAC Gonow after-sales are all in name only. Although it is just empty talk, it is not a "headless case". For example, the Young Lotus was completely deserted, and most dealers changed their storefronts and started a new business, leaving car owners with no after-sales service. The vulnerable parts in the car are basically out of stock all the time, and consumers have given up. Since it is no longer an isolated case, is it due to inadequate supervision or policy loopholes? Although there are policies, there are no guarantees, and implementation is even more difficult. In terms of policy, consumers are actually guaranteed that such things will not happen. After any brand is delisted, it needs to maintain product maintenance and other after-sales services in accordance with current business rules. If the company fails to fulfill the agreement, consumers can file a complaint with the relevant agency and protect their rights. However, although there are legal constraints, it is not easy to fulfill the previous agreement to provide quality and quantity after-sales services when the company is in trouble and is about to be delisted. As the company changes, the result of a large number of changes in dealers has become inevitable. At this time, the only way to truly guarantee the rights of consumers is for the manufacturer to show more sincerity, but it seems that there is nothing they can do when it is difficult.
