Stomach problems can be cured by "nurturing". This article explains how to properly nurture the stomach.

Someone asked Huazi, "I heard that stomach problems are 30% treated and 70% treated by nursing." Is this statement correct? Huazi said that treatment is only a supplementary role, and in fact, stomach problems can be cured by nursing.

The digestive tract mucosa of the human body rubs against food every day and is easily damaged, so the epithelial cells of the digestive tract have a strong regenerative ability. People with peptic ulcers cannot rely solely on medication to treat the disease. What is more important is to know how to protect themselves and avoid further damage to the digestive tract mucosa.

1. Dietary precautions People with stomach problems should pay attention to eating easily digestible and nutritious foods. Do not eat foods that are too sweet, too salty, too sour, too spicy, or other irritating foods, as well as raw, cold, hard, and other foods that are difficult to digest.

People with stomach problems should avoid drinking coffee and strong tea. Coffee contains caffeine; tea contains tea polyphenols, caffeine, and tannins, all of which promote gastric acid secretion and excite the central nervous system, reflexively causing gastrointestinal mucosal blood vessels to contract, reducing blood supply, and reducing the barrier function of the gastrointestinal mucosa, which can aggravate ulcers and lead to worsening of the disease.

In terms of staple food, porridge and noodles are easy to digest, but it is not recommended to eat them for a long time. Because porridge and noodles are cooked at high temperature, the starch they contain is highly gelatinized and easy to digest, but if you eat them for a long time, the digestive function of the digestive system itself will deteriorate due to "use it or lose it".

Therefore, people with stomach problems can choose porridge and noodles when the disease attacks acutely. However, after the symptoms are relieved, steamed bread can be chosen as the daily staple food. Steamed bread needs to be fermented, which will convert part of the starch into small molecule sugars and reduce the content of phytic acid, which is less irritating to the stomach. When eating steamed bread, you should chew it slowly and don't eat too much.

Soda crackers can be used as daily snacks, because baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is added to crackers, which can neutralize stomach acid. When patients with duodenal ulcers experience hunger pain, chewing a few pieces of soda crackers can relieve pain. However, the pain relief effect of soda crackers is not long-lasting, and they contain more fat, which is not very healthy, so don't eat too much.

People with stomach problems can use yam to replace part of the staple food. Because yam is rich in polysaccharides, it has a protective effect on the gastric mucosa. However, yam is not easy to digest and cannot completely replace the staple food. The amount of replacement should not exceed one-third of the staple food.

When choosing vegetables, you can choose orange-red vegetables such as pumpkin, papaya, carrot, and tomato, which contain more carotene, which will be converted into vitamin A after entering the human body, which helps to repair the digestive tract mucosa. These vegetables contain more dietary fiber and should be cooked before eating, which is easier to digest.

People with peptic ulcers should not drink milk to relieve pain. Milk can temporarily neutralize stomach acid and relieve pain, but milk contains a lot of protein, which will stimulate the secretion of stomach acid and pepsin, making ulcer symptoms more severe.

It is important to note that you cannot "eat like to nourish like", eating foods such as pig stomach and pig intestines will not nourish your stomach and intestines. Animal offal contains a lot of fat, and eating more is not good for your health.

2. Develop good eating habits In addition to paying attention to food selection, you should also develop good eating habits. Do not eat before going to bed to avoid excessive gastric acid secretion at night due to eating, which may induce ulcers.

When eating, you should chew thoroughly, let your teeth and tongue replace part of the stomach's function, and reduce the burden on the stomach. Try not to eat crude fiber foods such as bamboo shoots and bacon to avoid mechanical damage to the gastric mucosa caused by friction.

Eat small and frequent meals. When you are hungry, gastric acid and pepsin will directly stimulate the ulcer and cause pain. Therefore, reducing the fasting time and using food to neutralize gastric acid can relieve pain. However, it should be noted that food can also stimulate gastric acid secretion, so you should not eat frequently. It is recommended to keep the total amount of meals per day unchanged and change three meals to five meals.

Do not overeat. Eating a large amount in a short period of time will cause acute gastric dilatation, which can easily damage the stomach's self-protection mechanism and cause gastric ulcers.

Do not smoke or drink. Harmful substances in cigarettes can cause blood vessel contraction, reduce prostaglandin synthesis, stimulate gastric acid and pepsin secretion, and damage the gastric mucosa. Alcohol has a direct stimulating effect on the gastric mucosa, weakening the barrier function of the gastric mucosa, and can stimulate gastric acid secretion, which can also damage the gastric mucosa. For people who already have peptic ulcers, drinking is an important factor in inducing gastric bleeding and gastric perforation.

3. Keep your emotions stable. The number of nerve cells in the digestive system is second only to the central nervous system. The fluctuation of human emotions has a direct impact on the digestive system. When people are nervous, afraid, or angry, they will "forget to eat and sleep"; when they are anxious or depressed, they will "lose their appetite for food and drink". This is the most direct manifestation of the impact of emotions on the digestive system.

Acute anxiety can cause abnormal secretion of autonomic neurotransmitters, resulting in an imbalance between attack and defense factors in the digestive system, which is an important cause of stress-induced peptic ulcers. After a peptic ulcer occurs, various symptoms of discomfort and pain in the body will bring negative emotional experiences. Therefore, emotional problems and peptic ulcers are mutually causal, forming a vicious cycle.

Therefore, people who are easily angry, often anxious, and depressed should manage their emotions well and consciously cultivate hobbies such as reading, calligraphy, art, mountaineering, playing chess, making friends, and playing instrumental music to cultivate their sentiments, stabilize their emotions, and enhance their psychological ability to resist stress.

However, some people may suffer from depression, and it is difficult for them to get out of bad mood by their own strength. They need to receive treatment from a psychologist and use antidepressants under the guidance of a doctor to relieve the symptoms.

4. Rational use of drugs. If you have other diseases that require medication, read the drug instructions carefully before using the drug to see if there are any adverse reactions that may cause damage to the digestive tract.

For example, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used for antipyretics, analgesia, and treatment of rheumatism, as well as glucocorticoids, tetracycline antibiotics and other drugs, all have adverse reactions that cause digestive tract damage. Before using them, you should actively communicate with your doctor and try to replace the drugs that have no effect on the digestive tract.

If you must use such drugs, pay attention to monitoring adverse reactions during medication. If you experience abdominal pain, black stools, coffee-colored vomit, etc., you should seek medical treatment in a timely manner. If you need to use drugs that damage the digestive tract for a long time or in large doses, it is recommended that you use them in combination with drugs that inhibit gastric acid secretion under the guidance of a doctor to protect the digestive tract mucosa.

In summary, the digestive tract mucosa has a strong ability to repair itself. People with stomach problems can recover after reducing the damaging factors. In addition to using medication under the guidance of a doctor, it is more important to master the correct way to nourish the stomach in life and persist in it, so that stomach problems can be cured.
