Toyota Brazil replaces CEO

According to Reuters, Toyota Motor announced that it will replace its former CEO in Brazil and appoint Rafael Chang as the new CEO. Rafael Chang will take charge of Toyota's Brazilian affairs on January 2.

Toyota Motor said Rafael Chang will take over Koji Kondo's role as CEO of Toyota Brazil, overseeing operations in the company's largest market in South America. Toyota praised Koji Kondo for leading Toyota through a difficult period in the sluggish Brazilian market. In the past four years, demand in the Brazilian auto market has fallen sharply, with sales falling by almost half.

From January to mid-October this year, Brazil's cumulative light vehicle sales fell 21.92% year-on-year; including heavy commercial vehicles, Brazil's cumulative new car sales from January to October were 1,667,798 units, a year-on-year decrease of 22.28%.

Toyota is the fifth largest automaker in the Brazilian market. In 2014, Toyota's market share in Brazil was 4.3%, and this year it has risen to 8.8%. Rafael Chang was in charge of Toyota's Venezuelan market operations. Toyota pointed out that Rafael Chang will lead Toyota Brazil to achieve faster progress.

In addition to the CEO, there have been some changes in the leadership of Toyota Brazil.
