Uber's new vice president Frye: Former CEO Kalanick may return
Frye said: "Kalanick also wants the best for the company. Whoever takes over Kalanick's job should learn from him. Now, the company's morale is a bit low and lacks leadership. And Kalanick will make decisions that are beneficial to the development of the company, not his own interests." When asked "who might take over Kalanick's CEO position", Frye said that appointing a new CEO would not solve all problems. She said: "I don't believe that appointing a CEO will become the savior of the company." Uber is in the most troubled times, with a series of sexual harassment allegations, a lawsuit from Waymo, the driverless car unit of Google's parent company Alphabet, and a series of executive resignations. Against this background, under the collective request of the five major investors, Kalanick chose to resign as CEO last month. Later, he said in a statement to employees: "I never thought I would make a statement like this (resigning as CEO). Everyone knows that I love Uber more than anything else in this world. However, at this most difficult time in my personal life, I accepted the advice of some investors and resigned as CEO to get Uber back on track and no longer be affected by other battles." Kalanick co-founded Uber eight years ago. Currently, Uber has raised about $10.7 billion in financing and the company is valued at more than $70 billion.
