Both of these cars have been in the compact SUV market for many years and have accumulated a good reputation. As an imported car, Outlander did not receive much attention before, and its sales volume was also lower than some mainstream SUVs, but its four-wheel drive technology is excellent, and after being produced in China, the entry threshold has been greatly reduced, and its cost-effectiveness is prominent; Kuga is a representative of mainstream joint venture SUVs, and its overall price is higher than Outlander, but the 1.5T model overlaps with Outlander, and after a round of official price cuts in April, coupled with terminal discounts, the price of the top-equipped 1.5T is now very close to that of the top-equipped Outlander 2.4L. Although the two cars we compared this time have a large difference in displacement, they have the strength to be compared head-on in many aspects, and even in terms of power, due to the small difference in power and torque, they are actually very comparable.

In terms of appearance, the Outlander seems to be a model that has half a foot in the mid-size SUV category. It has a second row of seats and a body length of more than 4.7 meters, which gives it a lot of advantages in compact SUVs. In terms of body size, the Outlander is indeed slightly longer than the Kuga. In terms of design, the two cars have their own characteristics. The Outlander has a higher front end, giving people a more robust feeling, and the design elements are also very grand. The Kuga's design is more fashionable, and the details are more refined than the Outlander.

In terms of headlight configuration, Kuga is slightly better than Outlander. Outlander's low beam is LED light source, while high beam is halogen; Kuga's high and low beam are integrated design, both are xenon headlights, with adaptive high and low beam function, and are also equipped with steering assist lights on the inside. In terms of the front, both cars have adaptive cruise control systems, so both have distance detection modules; Outlander only has rear parking radar, while Kuga has front and rear 8-point parking radars and an automatic parking system.

In terms of interior, the Kuga is undoubtedly better. When you get into the car, you can feel a certain sense of quality, and you might even think it is quite classy. The Outlander is much worse in this regard. The design is relatively simple, and the plastic of the center console looks a little cheap, and the texture is much worse than that of the Kuga.

The center consoles of both cars are wrapped in soft materials, but the touch is average, and it is still a bit hard. The base material above the Outlander's dashboard is hard plastic, and it is wrapped with a layer of soft rubber pad; the material of the Kuga is the same as the center console. In general, the materials used in the two cars are similar, with no obvious difference.

In terms of steering wheel design and feel, the Kuga is slightly better than the Outlander. The Kuga steering wheel feels very full, and the grip is similar to leather, which is much more delicate than the Outlander; while the Outlander steering wheel feels hard and not delicate. In terms of design, the Kuga steering wheel looks more refined.

The power systems of these two cars are quite different, and the actual power experience is also very different. The Outlander is equipped with a 2.4L naturally aspirated engine, and the power output is biased towards medium and high speeds. The CVT gearbox can simulate 6 speeds; the Kuga is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine with a smaller displacement, but because of the turbo assist, it provides higher power output at medium and low speeds, and the gearbox is matched with a 6-speed manual transmission.

In summary, the advantage of Outlander is that its suspension is softer than that of Kuga, and the ride comfort is slightly better; it has a third row, which is not very comfortable, but can be used for temporary seating, while Kuga does not; it has slightly stronger four-wheel drive capability, and Outlander passed the single front wheel test with three pulleys, while Kuga did not; it has lower fuel consumption and slightly lower noise than Kuga. Kuga's advantage lies in its configuration, such as panoramic sunroof, electric adjustment of the driver and passenger, CarPlay, and driving assistance systems such as yaw assist, which are better than Outlander; Kuga has better driving quality, and its chassis performance is obviously better than Outlander.
