Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover and Cadillac are among the world's ten worst cars. Why are these god cars not perfect in your eyes?

Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover and Cadillac are among the world's ten worst cars. Why are these god cars not perfect in your eyes?

Are expensive cars necessarily good cars? Unfortunately, many car manufacturers have proven this view wrong time and again with their crappy products.

Not long ago, the national media once again selected the "Ten Worst Cars in the World in 2017". Leaving aside models with low visibility in China such as Fiat 500L, Chrysler 200, Toyota Tacoma pickup, etc., brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and Cadillac are on the list, which is enough to refresh your perception of traditional luxury cars.

Sports models are not sports

When you see more and more nimble hot hatches shuttling through the streets and alleys of the city, car manufacturers have actually already realized that launching sports models will open up a broader market for themselves.

However, are the so-called sports models really sporty?

In the list of "The Ten Worst Cars in the World in 2017", the Mercedes-Benz CLA was rated as the worst entry-level luxury sedan. Despite its coupe appearance, it has a slow start, awkward operation, and a stiff chassis for driving quality, making it difficult for it to meet the sporty characteristics of a coupe. What's more interesting is that the low-end model of the Mercedes-Benz CLA has a power output of only 122 horsepower.

There is also the Land Rover Discovery Sport, which was rated as the worst luxury compact SUV. Although the word "sport" is highlighted in its name, the foreign media "Consumer Reports" believes that relying solely on a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the acceleration of the Land Rover Discovery Sport is extremely unstable, the gearbox smoothness and sensitivity are also poor, the driving experience on the road is still stiff, and the handling is far from sporty.

Looking back, there are quite a few models in the domestic market that use sports as a selling point but are not sporty. These include the Mercedes-Benz CLA and Land Rover Discovery Sport, which you can also buy in China. The most representative models include the Lingdu, produced by SAIC Volkswagen, which was initially positioned as a "wide-body coupe."

Let's not talk about how this sedan, which is only 3mm wider than the Focus, can be considered a wide-body car. As for its coupe positioning, I'm afraid you can only spend about the same money as a top-of-the-line Passat to buy a Lingdu GTS with a 2.0T engine to be really interesting.

Smart systems are not smart

It seems that nowadays, every new car likes to hang an eye-catching large-screen Pad on the center console, but is this screen easy to use?

In the list of "The Ten Worst Cars in the World in 2017", the Cadillac Escalade, which was rated as the worst luxury large SUV, was featured on this screen. One of the major complaints about this car is that the user experience of its CUE car system is uncomfortable.

Although technology giants Apple and Google have successively launched smart operating systems CarPlay and Android Auto for cars, it is inevitable that some car manufacturers and these Internet companies do not see eye to eye. General Motors must be one of them. The Chinese translation of the CUE system is "Cadillac Mobile Internet Experience", which is obviously the product of car manufacturers trying to compete with Internet companies. Unfortunately, the result is not ideal.

Another example worth mentioning is Dongfeng Honda's tenth-generation Civic, which has set off a wave of "high price but low demand" in the domestic compact car market. For models with 1.5T engines, Dongfeng Honda does have Apple's CarPlay built into the low-end and manual transmission models, but the high-end models are replaced with Honda's self-developed HondaConnect navigation system.

Spending more money to buy a car but not being able to use Siri in the car naturally caused dissatisfaction among many owners of the Dongfeng Honda's tenth-generation Civic at the beginning.

Electric cars are still a gimmick

How can a crappy car be without a new energy vehicle?

In the list of "The Ten Worst Cars in the World in 2017", the worst compact electric sedan is the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi. Although this car is not available in China, the reason why it was rated as the "worst" may be very familiar to domestic electric car owners.

In much of the world, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is one of the cheapest all-electric cars you can buy, but it's slow, has poor handling, a cheap interior and a range of just 100km.

It is particularly noteworthy that under 240V voltage, it takes 6 to 7 hours to fully charge the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. Under the 110V specification of some countries' standards, it takes an exaggerated 21 hours.

Poor quality, short battery life, and slow charging, the common problems of low-end electric vehicles can be said to be fully reflected in the Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

You know, with the support of relevant domestic policies, many domestic automobile manufacturers and even non-professional automobile manufacturers are also producing and selling "difficult to use" electric vehicles similar to Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

So, you have to understand that unless you try out high-priced electric cars like Tesla, which is leading the industry, electric-powered cars may only bring you tragedy.
