Domestic Internet car brands are making efforts, and former Tesla core technology experts join Xiaopeng Motors

With the rise of the concepts of smart driving and electric vehicles, a number of Internet car brands have emerged in China. Although these manufacturers have different business and capability allocations, most of them focus on smart driving and electric vehicles, and Xiaopeng Motors is one of them.

Today, Xpeng Motors announced that Gu Junli, former leader in Tesla's Autopilot machine learning technology and machine learning expert, has been appointed as Xpeng Motors' vice president of autonomous driving R&D, reporting directly to He Xiaopeng, chairman of Xpeng Motors.

It is reported that after joining Xiaopeng Motors, Gu Junli will be fully responsible for the creation of Xiaopeng Motors' autonomous driving R&D team, leading artificial intelligence innovation and the research and development of autonomous driving software, and accelerating the application and upgrade iteration of Xiaopeng Motors' autonomous driving technology.

During her tenure at Tesla, Gu Junli built Tesla's machine learning team, successfully developed the Autopilot 2.0 product, and achieved large-scale deployment on multiple generations of Tesla vehicles.

Xpeng Motors was founded in 2014 and officially launched its first pure electric SUV in September 2016. In October 2017, Xpeng Motors' first mass-produced model officially rolled off the assembly line, making it the first company in the domestic Internet car manufacturing industry to achieve mass production.

For domestic Internet car companies, many have set the goal of "becoming China's Tesla". This time, Gu Junli's joining has added huge technical capabilities to Xiaopeng Motors, and Xiaopeng Motors' performance in the future is also worth looking forward to.
