iOS 14 code exposed, BMW may become the first car manufacturer to support iPhone unlocking

Previously, it was revealed on the Internet that Apple has added the CarKey API in iOS 13.4 Beta 1 that allows portable Apple devices such as iPhone and Apple Watch to unlock cars.

Recently, 9to5Mac discovered from the iOS 14 code that Apple has integrated the unlocking key of BMW cars into the system. In other words, BMW may become the first car manufacturer to support "CarKey".

In terms of details, judging from the code, Apple's "CarKey" supports iPhone/Apple Watch to unlock the car through the NFC function, which means that the iPhone/Apple Watch does not need to be unlocked in advance, and the car can be unlocked by simply bringing it close to the car's identification area.

As early as 2013, Apple announced its entry into the automotive field and demonstrated the iOS in the Car plan. In the following years, due to Apple's strong appeal, CarPlay has been recognized by more and more consumers and car manufacturers. The addition of the "CarKey" function by Apple this time is also seen as Apple's preparation for the Apple Car.
