When will the cell phone “bombs” end?

Nowadays, smartphones have become an important tool in people's hands. Our lives, communications, entertainment, etc. cannot be separated from the support of mobile phones. Mobile phones are changing our living habits and our criteria for judging mobile phone products.

Ten years ago, when mobile phones were still in the era of feature phones, most of the time we only had two reasons to choose a mobile phone: appearance and quality. A mobile phone that looked good and had excellent quality must have been a good phone at the time.

In the era of smartphones, functions have become the most important factor in choosing a mobile phone. Whether the camera is good, the battery life is long, the screen size, the feel of the phone, etc. have become the standard for people to measure the quality of a mobile phone.

In order to meet the growing demands of consumers, mobile phone manufacturers have also taken great pains to think of countermeasures, and as a result, we can see more and more powerful mobile phones coming out.

However, strong consumer demand has also made mobile phone manufacturers more aggressive in product design and production, and problems have followed.

iPhone 8 first explosion

According to Taiwanese media reports, a Taiwanese consumer was charging his iPhone 8 Plus, which he had just bought three days ago, when the phone's casing suddenly exploded. The back panel and screen of the phone were obviously cracked from the inside, and the frame was also separated from the casing. The battery was suspected to have expanded for unknown reasons, and the crack was about 0.5 cm. However, the consumer did not hear any explosion sound.

Prior to this, a Japanese netizen tweeted that he had bought a new iPhone 8 Plus phone, and found that the screen was broken just after unpacking it, which was suspected to be caused by battery expansion.

After the explosion, some media pointed out that the three new mobile phones released by Apple used batteries from Samsung SDI and LG Chem, and SDI was the previous supplier of batteries for Samsung Note 7.

The cell phone "bomb" shocked the world

In fact, this is not the first time that an iPhone has exploded. Almost every generation of the iPhone, which symbolizes the benchmark of the smartphone industry, has experienced explosion problems. In addition to explosion accidents caused by external forces, using non-original chargers, and other human factors, it is not uncommon for iPhones to "explode" while in use.

In addition to the iPhone, almost every smartphone brand, including Xiaomi, HTC, Huawei, Meizu, OPPO, etc., has experienced product explosion accidents.

However, among all the mobile phone explosion incidents, the most influential and notorious one is the Samsung Note 7 explosion incident worldwide last year. This explosion not only caused huge losses to Samsung, but also caused the global aviation system to classify the Note 7 as a contraband. Samsung's attitude towards the Chinese market after the explosion also affected the sales of its subsequent products in mainland China.

The frequent occurrence of mobile phone explosions has shocked the world and every consumer.

When will the cell phone “bombs” end?

As mobile phones become more powerful, we find that their quality is becoming more and more fragile. They break when they fall to the ground and bend when they are bent, making it difficult for mobile phones to get rid of the protection of protective cases and protective films. This also makes the ultra-thin bodies that manufacturers have worked so hard to make full of irony. Back then, we joked that the quality of mobile phones could be used to smash walnuts and bricks, but now we can only throw mobile phones as "grenades".

In fact, from the root of the problem, most of the reasons for mobile phone explosions are due to batteries. The radical adoption of immature battery designs in order to increase charging speed and battery life has become the root cause.

At the same time, almost all mobile phones now use an integrated design, which makes it difficult for users to replace the battery immediately after it ages, which also creates some uncertainty.

I think it may not be realistic to truly prevent mobile phone explosions, but mobile phone manufacturers should set "zero product explosions" as their goal, thereby increasing control over mobile phone quality and being more cautious in the application of technology, so that mobile phone explosions do not occur so frequently.
