WM EX5 owners should pay attention to the hidden dangers of power batteries, which have caused four consecutive fires in January

The WM EX5 has been making headlines recently due to a series of spontaneous combustion accidents. Since the first spontaneous combustion of the WM EX5 on October 5, three similar accidents have occurred within 15 days.

Unexpectedly, at the end of October, another WM EX5 caught fire and spontaneously combusted, and according to a video circulated online, an explosion also occurred at the scene, with a noticeable shock.

Four spontaneous combustion accidents in one month are hard to explain as "accidental". The probability of such accidents is far higher than that of other electric vehicle brands.

It is reported that the spontaneous combustion accident occurred in the original place without charging, and the power was very strong. The accident caused the Beijing Sihuan Mechanics Institute to ban all electric vehicles from entering the garage.

From the photos circulated online, it can be seen that the front of the WM EX5 and the space for the front seats have been completely burned, and thick smoke is still coming out of the rear. Because the fire department arrived in time, the vehicle was not completely burned, but it was already scrapped.

It is worth noting that because two WM EX5 taxis in Shaowu City, Fujian Province had experienced consecutive spontaneous combustion accidents, the local traffic management department has urgently stopped the operation of WM EX5 taxis and held a meeting to discuss issues such as accident compensation and vehicle quality. It required WM Motor to immediately eliminate hidden dangers, investigate the cause of the accident and properly handle the follow-up matters of the accident.

After investigation, WM Motor initially determined that the cause of the fire was a quality problem with the power battery installed in the EX5 model, and proposed a solution of replacing it with high-quality batteries from CATL.

At present, it is still unclear who is the manufacturer of the battery involved in the WM EX5 accident. The specific cause and solution of the accident still need to wait for the follow-up explanation from WM Motor officials.
