Hongguang MINI EV beats Model 3, making Chinese-made cars the world's best-selling electric car for the first time

Global electric vehicle sales data show that Wuling Hongguang MNIEV sales reached 36,762 units in January, setting a sales record for seven consecutive months.

At the same time, Tesla's sales in the global market declined in January and was surpassed by Hongguang MINIEV for the first time. Hongguang MINIEV became the global electric vehicle sales champion for the first time.

Statistics show that Tesla Model 3 ranked second in the global electric vehicle sales list with 21,589 units sold, and Wuling Hongguang MINIEV beat Tesla Model 3 by 15,000 units.

The third place went to Tesla Model Y, with sales of 9,597 units. BYD Han EV also showed strong momentum after its production capacity increased, with sales of 9,298 units in January, catching up with and surpassing Tesla Model Y.

It is worth mentioning that in the electric vehicle sales list, Chinese independent brands have shown absolute advantages, occupying 7 seats in the top ten. That is to say, except for the three models of Tesla Model 3, Model Y and BMW 530e/Le, all are occupied by domestic electric vehicles.

As one of the earliest countries to support the electric vehicle industry, China has already gained a leading edge in terms of industry scale and industrial chain. As traditional global automakers are promoting electrification and innovative electric vehicle companies are emerging in large numbers, domestic electric vehicle-related companies undoubtedly have a more advantageous position.
