On March 15, the "Volkswagen Power Day" was held, which was said to be inspired by Tesla. At the meeting, Volkswagen announced its layout and planning in the electric vehicle market. Volkswagen said that the battery cells it developed with intelligent technology have the characteristics of simple structure and low cost, and the entry-level molding cost equipped with Volkswagen standard battery cells will be reduced by half. In addition, Volkswagen said it plans to sell 1 million electric vehicles this year and become the global leader in the electric vehicle industry by 2025. Moreover, Volkswagen also stated that the research and development of fuel vehicles has basically stopped and it is fully transforming to electric vehicles. According to Volkswagen's annual sales target, its sales will surpass the current industry leader, Tesla, which sold 500,000 electric vehicles worldwide last year. Its sales target for this year has not yet been announced, but it is not expected to reach 1 million. Currently, Volkswagen has only launched one pure electric model, the ID.4, in China, and the annual production capacity of this model in Foshan and Anting factories may reach 600,000 units. In comparison, Tesla has more advantages in terms of brand, product matrix, and intelligence level.
