It is reported that CATL has officially sued AVIC Lithium Battery, all of whose products are suspected of infringing on the former's patent rights.

CATL stated that the infringement case filed this time involved invention and utility model patents, and the batteries suspected of infringement have been used in tens of thousands of cars.

On the evening of July 21, AVIC Lithium Battery officially issued a statement saying that the company had not received the indictment as of that time, and stated that the company has always regarded independent research and development and technological innovation as the foundation of its existence and has fully invested in future-oriented research and development.

The statement also mentioned that while making every effort to develop intellectual property technology, AVIC Lithium Battery also adopts the "Technology Achievement Protection Line" and "IP Risk Prevention and Control Line" in its intellectual property work to conduct comprehensive risk checks on products provided to customers. The company is confident that its products will not infringe on the patents and intellectual property rights of others.

It is reported that AVIC Lithium Battery is a technology company specializing in the research and development and production of lithium-ion power batteries and power management systems, which was invested and built by seven units including Aviation Industry Corporation of China, China Air-to-Air Missile Research Institute, Sichuan Chengfei Inheritance Technology Co., Ltd., etc. Its large-capacity and long-life lithium-ion power batteries above 100AH ​​are leading in China. Its unit has undertaken the national 863 major project "Development of large-capacity lithium iron phosphate power batteries and power module technology".

Data shows that AVIC Lithium Battery's domestic installed capacity in Q1 2021 was 1.41GWh, ranking fourth, second only to CATL, BYD and LG New Energy. In April, AVIC Lithium Battery's installed capacity increased by 458% year-on-year, reaching 0.78GWh per month, surpassing LG New Energy in China's power battery installed capacity ranking, ranking third and winning the global installed capacity growth champion.

According to AVIC Lithium Battery's plan, the company has signed new projects in many places in the second quarter. The production capacity to be released in the future will greatly enhance AVIC Lithium Battery's supporting capabilities. The planned production capacity of 300GWh makes AVIC Lithium Battery a competitor that CATL cannot ignore.
