The 14th Honda China Energy Conservation Competition was successfully held

From November 25th to 26th, the 2023 14th Honda China Energy Conservation Competition was successfully held at the Guangdong International Circuit. After four years, the competition finally returned.

The Honda Energy Conservation Competition was founded by Honda founder Soichiro Honda in Japan in 1981. Since entering China in 2007, it has been successfully held for 14 sessions, with a total of more than 10,000 participants. The purpose of the competition is to "raise awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection, and experience the fun of hands-on creation". It encourages participants to assemble energy-saving racing cars by themselves and apply advanced technologies to the car-making process, improve creativity, and show a spirit of challenge and teamwork. At the same time, through the competition, they understand the importance of energy conservation and environmental protection.

Masayuki Igarashi, general manager of Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said at the opening ceremony: "The global automotive industry is currently facing major technological changes. The Chinese market is at the forefront of this change. I hope that college students can hone their skills in practice by participating in the energy-saving competition, face challenges bravely, and shoulder the responsibility of leading the change in the future."

Starting Ceremony

During the two-day competition, nearly 60 teams from major universities and Honda-related companies across the country competed fiercely in four categories of fuel vehicles and electric vehicles. In the end, the championship of the fuel vehicle category was won by Jilin University Kensai Energy Saving Team and Wuyang-Honda Motorcycle (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. Sunshine Team, and the championship of the electric vehicle category was won by Beijing Institute of Technology Yisheng 2 Team and Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. Chuangwei Team.

The Best Technology Award, which aims to encourage technological innovation, was won by the Second Buyue Team of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Donghua University. The technical highlight is that "it not only creates a compact and small body by adopting a short wheelbase, but also fully reflects the pursuit of aerodynamics. In addition, carbon fiber materials are reasonably used in the body structure, and the final completion degree of the whole vehicle is very high."

Best Technology Award: Donghua University School of Mechanical Engineering Parade Team 2

The best design award selected by experts from Honda's styling department went to the Qianjin team from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Guizhou University. The design highlight is "the use of environmentally friendly natural wood materials to create the frame structure, and the use of plastic film to make a fully transparent and ultra-lightweight body. The design concept perfectly fits the theme of this competition, and ultimately presents a very novel and unique shape."

In addition, in order to allow the participating team members and the audience to closely experience Honda's racing genes and high-performance mobile fun, the competition displayed the legendary racing car, the new generation CIVIC TYPE R, and three popular large-displacement motorcycles, the Gold Wing GL1800, CB750, and CL500. At the same time, exhibition boards were set up to introduce Honda's various public welfare undertakings in China.

Set sail again and live up to every passion! Honda will continue to challenge higher environmental protection goals together with all participating teams.
