Yesterday, reporters learned from China Mobile that China Mobile will cooperate with Apple in payment. In the future, App Store will add "short payment" (text message payment) on the basis of credit card payment. In other words, in the future, users can use mobile phone charges to pay for paid downloads on App Store. In addition to cooperation in payment methods, China Mobile will also cooperate with Apple App Store in channel content. The specific content and details of the cooperation between the two parties may not be officially announced until the second half of the year when Apple releases iOS8. In addition, there are reports that in the future cooperation, the share of the App Store will be 15% for China Mobile and 85% for Apple, while the developer portion will be determined by Apple according to different levels of products. In terms of download volume, China is the second largest market for Apple App Store, contributing 18% of Apple's application downloads each year, but only 3% of its revenue. The largest market, the United States, contributes 28% of Apple's downloads each year and brings Apple 42% of its revenue. The limitation of payment methods is an important reason for the low willingness of Chinese users to pay. At the end of 2011, in order to increase the revenue from application downloads in the Chinese market, Apple began to accept RMB payments. This move has achieved certain results, but it still cannot satisfy Apple. "Compared to Europe and the United States, the use of credit cards in China is not very popular, which also prevents many users from paying for apps in the App Store. In China, SMS payment is a payment method with a lower threshold and is more popular," said Cheng Bo, a mobile phone industry analyst. A mobile game developer told reporters that Apple currently prohibits apps from paying via SMS or third parties. If there are these payment channels in the game, it may be removed from the App Store. "If Apple really opens the SMS payment channel, it will certainly be a good thing for us, and the revenue should be much higher than it is now." However, in the view of Li Yi, secretary-general of the China Mobile Internet Industry Alliance, the increase in payment methods has not helped much to increase the revenue of Apple's APP Store in China. "The group with the willingness to consume will pay for paid applications before, while users who are not willing to pay will not pay just because payment has become more convenient than before." He believes that due to the lack of attention to intellectual property rights and the prevalence of "jailbreaking", a considerable number of Chinese mobile phone users have become accustomed to using various applications for free, and this consumption habit will not change due to changes in payment methods.
