Consumers: Apple Watch is more fashionable than other smart watches

In 2007, Apple launched the first generation of iPhone smartphones, which had a strong impact on the smartphone industry at the time and made consumers really interested in touch-screen phones. In 2014, Apple released the new Apple Watch smartwatch. Although the product has not yet been launched, it can be said that it has once again led the trend. And this time, Apple Watch is expected to have the same impact on the smartphone market as the first generation of iPhone.

Recently, retail research company First Insight pointed out in its latest research report: Consumers are very interested in the smart watch launched by Apple, and more users will regard Apple Watch as a fashion element, which is different from users' views on other smart watches.

Jim Shea, chief marketing officer at First Insight, said: "It seems that the consumer group of Apple Watch this time is not just for technology pioneers. The survey results show that Apple Watch is more popular among female users. Many even said that they are willing to pay an additional $50 on top of the $349 price to buy an Apple Watch."

Of course, such survey results are not without reason. Since the release of Apple Watch in September, Apple's Apple Watch has appeared on the cover of fashion magazines. This is different from the previous practice of choosing technology media to expose new smartphones and tablets. This move also seems to indicate that Apple is positioning Apple Watch as a high-end fashion product rather than an ordinary smart mobile device.

First Insight received 966 valid responses to the questionnaire, which not only involved Apple Watch, but also other similar smart wearable devices, including Samsung 's Gear S, Motorola 's Moto 360, LG G Watch R, Sony Smartwatch 3, and Asus ' Zenwatch. Interestingly, when the respondents mentioned the issue of price, they often expressed their willingness to pay a premium on top of the original price to buy an Apple Watch.

The survey also showed that Samsung Gear S received the most positive feedback from consumers, reaching 48%, but its $399 price tag is likely to hinder its development. If Samsung can lower the price of this smartwatch to below the reasonable price expected by consumers (US$287), then Samsung will likely dominate the smartwatch field.
