Google Play opens developer team in China

Chris Yerga, vice president of engineering for Asia Pacific at Google Play, said in an interview with Sina Technology that the developer service team has now entered China and will help Chinese developers complete research and development based on the Android platform.

Chris said that Google believes that developers are not divided by country or region, and Google should provide a unified level of help services to Android developers around the world. It is reported that Google has already provided Chinese services in terms of online developer information and customer service.

Last November, Google announced that Chinese developers can directly publish paid applications to 130 countries through Google Play, and the revenue will be directly remitted to local Chinese bank accounts, making the sales method and path of applications more convenient and fast. Chris revealed that in 2014, Google shared more than 7 billion US dollars with developers.

"Many developers in China have also achieved success on the Google Play platform," Chris said. As Chinese game development companies targeting the global market, ELEX and Tap4Fun have achieved substantial growth in revenue since their games were launched on Google Play. Through promotion through Google services such as YouTube, Google AdMob, Google Play Game Services and other channels, ELEX's game "Clash of Kings" currently ranks among the top in the charts in the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries.

Chris also hopes that more and more Chinese developers will expand their applications to more Android platforms. For example, "The World II" is the first application released by a Chinese developer on Android TV.

According to Google statistics, 78% of smartphones and 62% of tablets in the world run on Android. Currently, there are more than 1 billion active Android devices, and more than 1.5 million Android devices are activated every day.

Chris said that the platforms equipped with the Android system are also constantly being enriched. Android Wear, Android TV, Android Auto, etc. allow developers to publish applications on wearable devices, TVs, and even cars to bring users more novel experiences. Google Cardboard also allows developers to bring applications to the field of virtual reality.
