Still not fast enough? Tesla's new firmware will further improve acceleration time

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently revealed via Twitter that his Model S P100D will receive a firmware upgrade next month, which will include further shortening the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h and from 1/4 mile.

The Model S P100D released in August actually already has quite powerful performance. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and 1/4 mile in just 10.78 seconds. The upcoming Easter Egg upgrade will further shorten the time to 2.4 and 10.6 seconds.

From a purely numerical perspective, this improvement may not be very significant, but it is actually quite remarkable that all of this can be achieved with just a software update.

A user later asked on Twitter if the upgrade was applicable to users who upgraded from a P90D to a P100D after purchase. "All P100Ds produced and new (are eligible for the upgrade)," Musk replied, "This is purely a software optimization." So it seems that all P100D owners will be able to enjoy the benefits of this upgrade.

As for the specific release time of this upgrade, Musk did not disclose it in the tweet.
