It is reported that currently all users are no longer able to register new personal WeChat accounts through the WeChat mobile app, even if they change to a different mobile phone.

In response, Tencent customer service said: "The platform system is currently undergoing technical upgrades, and new user registrations for personal WeChat accounts have been suspended during this period. It is expected that the upgrade will be completed and registration will resume in early August. "

It is worth noting that regarding WeChat’s suspension of new user registrations, some netizens said that WeChat’s technical upgrade may be to cooperate with the “Clean Wind Project” and improve the network environment.

It is understood that on July 21, the WeChat Security Center WeChat official account released a message that the WeChat platform has always been committed to providing users with a green and healthy ecological environment.

In accordance with the unified deployment of the National Cyberspace Administration of China's special task of "Clear and Bright: Summer Internet Environment for Minors", in order to further optimize the user's network experience and safeguard the physical and mental health of young people, from now on, the WeChat platform will launch a two-month "Clear Wind Plan 2021" special summer Internet environment for minors rectification action.

The rectification includes clearing out minors under the age of 16 from appearing in live broadcasts and short videos, and inducing minors to give rewards.

For accounts that engage in the above-mentioned behaviors (including but not limited to official accounts, mini-programs, video accounts, etc.), the platform will implement corresponding capabilities after verification and delete the relevant content.

For accounts that continue to post illegal content after multiple processing, or deliberately use various means to maliciously confront, the platform will permanently stop providing services to the account.
