LG G3 first-hand experience: amazing/perfect
It is rumored that LG G3 is a performance monster. Is it? Ars Technica tested it by using it. Compared with G2 released 8 months ago, the screen size of G3 has been increased from 5.2 inches to 5.5 inches, the resolution has been changed to 2560x1440, and the PPI is 538. From the visual effect point of view, the performance of G3's screen is amazing, although compared with the 1080p, 440PPI screens of other mobile phones, it is impossible to find the difference visually. After all, it has far exceeded the limit of "retina" distinguishable pixels. In this regard, Ars Technica's evaluation is that it is not very meaningful to increase the screen pixels except for wasting electricity. Instead of launching a PPI digital competition, they would rather manufacturers provide "appropriate" high-definition screens and focus on improving the power of mobile phones - LG has indeed done so. In order to better power this ultra-high-resolution screen, the phone can automatically adjust the frame rate to achieve power saving. However, this does not seem to be very useful. Putting aside the issue of screen resolution, LG has brought us a phone with ultra-thin bezels, narrower than the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. And judging by the previously popular infographic "screen-to-body ratio", the G3 surpasses the G2 and becomes the phone with the highest screen-to-body ratio, reaching 76.4%. The G3's phone shell is made of "metallic" plastic. However, from the on-site hands-on, the G3's metallic luster is not better than other phones launched by LG before, but it doesn't feel as slippery as those "metallic" phones. In terms of hardware parameters, the G3 uses a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, a 3000mAh replaceable battery, 16 or 32GB of storage space, expandable microSD card, and 2 or 3GB of RAM. The phone's rear camera has a pixel of 13 million and uses laser autofocus. Officials claim that this can increase the camera's focus speed to 0.276 seconds. However, due to the large restrictions on the environment, this function was not well experienced. G3 adopts a special design, placing the power button and volume button on the back cover of the body. As can be seen from the picture above, the silver button below the camera is the power button, and the power button is wrapped by the volume button. In terms of feel, the power button is not difficult to press. Since G3 supports the "double-click to light up" function, we don't have to use this power button often. From the operating system, LG tries to make the UI flat and provide more customization options, such as providing a "full screen" display button (this function we have also seen on Huawei Honor X1 mobile phone). Compared with G2, the three virtual buttons on the bottom bar of G3 finally replaced the "menu button" with the "application switching button". Ars Technica said that G3 adopts the design of "smart keyboard", which can automatically correct errors and reduce the distance of finger movement. Press and hold the space bar and slide left or right to control the cursor to move left or right, and the keyboard can change the height freely. The system also has the function of "smart reminder", which can remind you when you finish a call but forget to hang up the call. It will also remind us to uninstall infrequently used applications and charge the phone in time. The notification style is similar to Google Now. "Smart Security", when you double-click the screen to light up, a 4-digit password input box will appear. Only when the correct password is entered can the system be entered. In addition, LG has also borrowed the remote wipe function on Android. The G3's protective case is also unique and is named "QuickCircle". There is a large round hole in the protective case. When it is put on the phone, it can display small applications such as camera and music, as well as incoming calls and text messages. This is the end of the G3's hands-on experience. It is not yet known when it will be launched in China. Last year, LG's mobile phone sales reached a record 47.7 million units, and the market performance of the G3 will determine whether LG can regain its position as the world's third largest mobile phone manufacturer.
