After the official release of Surface Pro 3, Linux-loving geeks said that their first feeling was that it was a pity that it ran Windows 8.1. So, they decided to tinker with it and let Surface Pro 3 match their best operating system Ubuntu 14.04. First, you need to back up the system of Surface Pro 3. In the test, the backup image is 30GB in size, but the whole backup process is very fast. You also need to provide a separate partition for Windows 8.1 to restore the image. After completing these two steps, you can sit back and tinker with Surface Pro 3 at will. Next, it is to install Ubuntu. Create a boot USB drive, shut down the device, insert the USB drive into the interface, and then press and hold the volume-button and the power button at the same time until the Surface logo appears, then the device will enter the Ubuntu installation interface, and you can install it step by step. Ubuntu 14.04 can basically run normally on Surface Pro 3, WiFi is normal, but only 2.4GHz WiFi network can be detected. The touchpad on the Type Cover keyboard protective cover can also work normally, but the keyboard cannot be used. You can use the virtual keyboard of the Ubuntu system. The Surface Pen can be used as the left button of a mouse, but because Bluetooth is not working, the other functions of the pen cannot be realized.
