The first Google Glass surgery teaching live broadcast in China was recently completed in Anhui Provincial Hospital. The chief surgeon, Professor Yan Ji, a member of the Chinese Society of Cardiovascular Diseases, pointed out that this technology not only has positive significance for the prospects of medical education, but also has the opportunity to enable some seriously ill patients to receive remote treatment. The operation was performed in the cardiovascular department of the hospital. Google Glass live broadcast the entire three-chamber pacemaker implantation operation, which lasted about 3 hours. Experts from Guangdong, Beijing and Shanghai watched the live broadcast through a multi-view projector in the observation room outside the hospital. In addition to the doctors and assistants wearing Google Glass in the operating room, the operating room was also equipped with a remotely controlled 360-degree camera, allowing the experts outside to watch the entire operation from multiple angles. Because the doctor wearing the glasses also carried a mobile power bank, the Google Glass, which could only shoot about 1 hour of video, continued to work stably for 3 hours. The experts who participated in the observation also said that the live broadcast image effect was very ideal, and the direct recording of the operation process was also convenient for later review, which was of positive significance for preserving surgical data. It is understood that the live broadcast uses the video recording function of Google Glass, but the recorded content is transmitted to the projector through the software independently developed by Shanghai CACHE Computer Technology Co., Ltd. Wei Zhengping, general manager of Shanghai CACHE, said that the application scenarios of wearable devices are still to be developed. At present, in addition to transmitting the video recorded by Google Glass directly to the projector, there are also application scenarios such as allowing doctors to directly use voice commands to view the patient's medical imaging data from Google Glass during surgery, and conducting online consultations with multiple hospitals through Google Glass.
