According to statistical analysis by market tracking company Omdia, Nvidia sold approximately 500,000 H100 and A100 GPUs in the third quarter of 2023. Previously, Omdia estimated that it sold approximately 900 tons of GPUs based on Nvidia's second-quarter sales. According to Nvidia's financial report, in the third quarter of this fiscal year, Nvidia earned $14.5 billion in revenue from data center hardware, almost quadrupling the same period last year. This is obviously due to the H100 GPU, which has become popular with the development of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC). Market tracking firm Omdia said Nvidia sold nearly 500,000 A100 and H100 GPUs, and the huge demand also meant that H100-based servers would take 36 to 52 weeks to deliver. Meta and Microsoft were the largest buyers, purchasing as many as 150,000 H100 GPUs each, far exceeding the number purchased by Google, Amazon, Oracle, and Tencent (50,000 each). It is worth noting that most server GPUs are supplied to hyperscale cloud service providers, and server OEMs (such as Dell, Lenovo, HPE) are currently unable to obtain enough AI and HPC GPUs. Omdia expects Nvidia's H100 and A100 GPU sales to exceed 500,000 units by the fourth quarter of 2023. However, almost all of the companies that have purchased Nvidia H100 GPUs in large quantities are developing their own custom chips for artificial intelligence, HPC and video workloads. So as they move to their own chips, purchases of Nvidia hardware may taper off. From cnBeta |
