Qualcomm + Huawei: Snapdragon 810 reaches 410Mbps!

Qualcomm announced today that it has successfully conducted a three-carrier downlink aggregation LTE Cat.9 transmission test in cooperation with Huawei and EE (UK operator), with download speeds reaching an astonishing 410Mbps, or 51.25MB/s.

The test mainly used Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor and its integrated LTE-A baseband, commercial network infrastructure solutions from Huawei, and EE LTE-A 4G+ network.

The baseband integrated in Snapdragon 810 comes from MDM 9x35, which initially only supported LTE Cat.6 with a maximum download speed of 300Mbps. However, after upgrading and modification, it can support the aggregation of up to three 20MHz carriers, with a theoretical download peak of 450Mbps, which is a full 50% increase.

However, this experiment only used three carriers: 20MHz in the 1800MHz band, 20MHz in the 2.6GHz band, and 15MHz in the 2.6GHz band, which means there is still potential for further improvement in the future.

This is the first successful cross-enterprise collaboration for LTE Cat.9, and Huawei also stated that it will continue to focus on improving mobile networks across the UK.
