Is BlackBerry also going to follow suit and launch a dual-curved screen phone?

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this week, BlackBerry announced that it will launch a new touchscreen phone later this year.

BlackBerry did not announce the code name, price or specific release date of the new phone. However, BlackBerry said that the new phone will use a "dual curved display" and is likely to be similar to Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge. The appearance of this phone will be similar to the previous BlackBerry Torch and even Dell's Venue Pro.

In addition to the new touchscreen phone, BlackBerry will also release a new Porsche Design device and another keyboard phone. BlackBerry did not release other details about the new phones.

BlackBerry also unveiled a low-end touchscreen phone this week, the Leap, which features a 5-inch, 720p display and an older Qualcomm dual-core processor. The phone, which has hardware comparable to the two-year-old Galaxy S4 and HTC One X, will cost about $275 and will initially be sold in emerging markets such as Brazil and Indonesia.

Earlier this week, BlackBerry announced plans to bring more of its software to other platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows. In addition to the BBM messaging app that it began promoting last year, BlackBerry will also promote apps such as BlackBerry Hub and Calendar on other platforms.
