Nvidia Shield TV Unboxing & Teardown

Nvidia Shield TV Unboxing & Teardown

I have been following Nvidia Shield TV since the beginning of this year. I saw the news of its release on May 29 and immediately placed an order on Amazon. After more than 10 days of waiting, I finally received a call from the courier this afternoon, saying that the item was delivered safely. Congratulations.

Package

Amazon mailbox, opened during inspection. The item is not light.

The packaging is simpler than that of domestic e-commerce. The several air pillows can only serve as filling and have no cushioning effect at all.

The 16GB version uses a white packaging style, while the Pro version is black. The difference between the regular version and the Pro version is that the Pro has a 500G built-in hard drive.

On the back are some function introductions.

The remote control and bracket are optional.

On this side are the included accessories and technical specifications.

Take two pictures from a different angle and get ready to unbox.

Once you open the box, you can see the true appearance of Shield TV.

The second layer is for accessories and the instruction manual is very small and is under the handle.

That's all the contents of the box.

The power adapter supports 220V, good review!

The machine is made of PC plastic, with only the power button being brushed metal. The overall workmanship is good. In addition, the "piano paint" on the front has several (note that it is not "several") obvious scratches when the factory protective film is torn off. This is really not right...

The back is covered with rubber, which makes it very stable when placed on a table.

CE marking or something...

From right to left are: power adapter interface, HDMI, network cable interface, USB3.0×2, MicroUSB, TF.

Disassembly

The back cover is designed with a snap, which is very easy to remove, and there is a thick layer of metal attached to the back cover. I personally feel that the internal workmanship is average, a bit like a laptop.

This is the most frustrating part for me. I didn't choose the Pro version because it only has an extra 500G hard drive, which is too cost-effective (the Pro is about 700 yuan more expensive). I planned to add one myself, but after opening it, I was shocked. The 16G version of Shield TV doesn't have a hard drive interface! However, there is a big iron block (not a hard drive bracket, but a piece of iron) in the position of the hard drive, and it is also equipped with shock-absorbing glue and fixed screws. What's the purpose?

Is this forcing us to buy the Pro version?
