AMD self-made water-cooled "host" dismantling: the graphics card turns out to be it

During the E3 exhibition, AMD announced its own "Project Quantum", which can be understood as a console.

Earlier this month, AMD Chief Scientist Richard Huddy said in an interview with PCR that , like a concept car, "Project Quantum" is just a concept PC, in other words, there is no guarantee that it will be launched on the market. Even if AMD does, the production will be very small.

Bechlife said that, just like the previous revelations, the Project Quantum host is indeed divided into two parts, the upper end is the water-cooling motor and radiator (liquid cooling circulation system), and the lower end is the motherboard, processor, SSD and graphics card.

It is worth noting that the radiators of general water cooling are 2D or 3D radiators, but the radiator in Project Quantum must fit the internal space. It is said that AMD has adopted a special 180mm shape.

IDG said that the water tank part also adopts a special design and is manufactured using 3D printing technology.

Like the initial demo machine, Project Quantum uses Intel's Devils Canyon i7-4790K processor and ASRock's Z97 motherboard (Z97E-ITX/ac). As for the most critical GPU, it is not the dual-core Fury X2 with a floating point accuracy of 17TFfops as we have always guessed, but only the Fury X. There are two guesses here. One is that the Fury X2 was replaced for confidentiality reasons, and the other is that the media speculated.

What's also valuable about this host is that the entire system is very quiet (the power supply is extra independent).

Benchlife speculates that Project Quantum may be handed over to other OEM manufacturers and currently still exists in the form of a "concept".
