Meizu Note 6 review: A 1,000-yuan phone that can rival iPhone 7 in terms of camera performance

Without the guest performance at the opening of the press conference, Meizu Note 6 obviously focused more on the product.

As Meizu's first smartphone equipped with a Qualcomm processor and the first product in the Meizu Blue family with dual-camera features, the Meizu Blue Note 6 is a "great leap forward" in Meizu's thousand-yuan smartphone product line.

So will this leap forward create even better young people?

The processor with the usual exquisite appearance leaves no regrets

With more emphasis on internal improvement, the Meizu Note 6 looks almost the same as previous Meizu phones at first glance. The excellent workmanship in details maintains the usual high standard. In terms of frame chamfers, seam treatment and many other aspects, it can be said to be the most delicate-looking thousand-yuan phone currently.

Because of the addition of dual cameras, the back of the Meizu Note 6 is more attractive than the front. The flash composed of four dual-color temperature LEDs is cleverly embedded in the antenna band of the injection-molded material, which brings a higher visual integrity while making the phone look unique from the back.

Exquisite attention to detail is also reflected in the treatment of the dual rear cameras of the Meizu Note 6. The two lenses of different sizes use a polished chamfer design that protrudes slightly outward and slightly inward on the edges of the lenses, respectively, to highlight the functional differences between the primary and secondary cameras.

As a smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen, the 8.35mm thickness and 173g weight make the Meizu Note 6 feel stable. Although it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB port, it seems conservative, but it will undoubtedly greatly increase its practicality when "looking for cables" and "borrowing headphones" in daily life.

Of course, the biggest breakthrough of Meizu Note 6 is that it finally turned to Qualcomm in terms of processor selection.

With the support of Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core 64-bit processor, not only does the advanced 14nm LPP process bring better power consumption performance, but the Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU also achieves up to 71% improvement in graphics performance compared to Meizu Blue Note5, which is enough to make users who complain about Meizu's "eternal MediaTek" smile.

What is even more gratifying is that Meizu Note 6 is also a landmark product of Meizu mobile phones moving towards a multi-processor platform. The flyme system matched with the Qualcomm processor has stable performance. The 4000mAh large battery and 18W fast charging technology, with the support of the more power-saving Qualcomm processor, also further improve the battery life of the phone. It is very easy to use it continuously for more than 1.5 days without charging.

The photo effect is amazing, and the dual-camera gameplay can beat Apple's mobile phone

With a 1200W+500W dual color lens combination, the Sony IMX362/Samsung 2L7 module that is unmatched in the same price range and on par with Samsung's previous flagship S7/S7 Edge, and a specially customized ArcSoft optimization algorithm, Meizu M6 not only spent half of the press conference to introduce the upgrades in camera imaging, but also showed no fear in the face of flagship phones that are several times more expensive than it.

In daily shooting, compared with Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Meizu M3 Note6 has a larger field of view and a brighter picture style than iPhone. The two perform similarly in terms of details, whether it is the seams on the buildings or the branches and leaves of the trees in the distance, Meizu M3 Note6 is not far behind the flagship phone.

In indoor environments, the Meizu M3 Note 6 is still on par with the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. The reflections on the wall and the lights in the dark all show excellent capture and control of light sources. However, in terms of warm color performance, under the default camera settings, the Meizu M3 Note 6 is not as bright and eye-catching as the iPhone.

At night, with the help of the 6P custom lens with a super large single pixel of 1.4μm and a super large aperture of ƒ/1.9, the Meizu M5 Note6 even has the momentum to surpass the iPhone. Not only is the picture brighter, but the color is also closer to the actual scene. The iPhone 7 Plus may be easily affected by the ambient light, and the overall picture is reddish.

In larger night scenes, the Meizu M6 Note 6 is still quite capable. Its control of light contrast and building details is firmly at the flagship level, allowing you to safely press the shutter in front of scenes with complex lighting.

Of course, the most significant improvement in photography of Meizu Note6 is the background blur of the dual-camera. Similar to the portrait mode of iPhone 7 Plus, the photos taken by Meizu Note6 in the dual-camera blur mode can clearly highlight the subject and blur the background.

At the same time, benefiting from the first Dual PD full-pixel dual-core focusing technology added to a thousand-yuan mobile phone, the Meizu M3 Note6 can focus as fast as 0.03s and can quickly and accurately reflect the dual-camera blur effect on the mobile phone screen in real time.

Most importantly, in terms of dual-camera gameplay, the Meizu M5 Note6 can "shoot first and focus later" feature, which is a clear win over the Apple iPhone. In actual use, this feature is also fully usable, which greatly improves the post-adjustment space of mobile phone photography on the machine.

Meilan's youth products are always creating the most worthwhile thousand-yuan mobile phones

From the official release of Meizu Note at the end of 2014 to the subsequent Meizu Note3 and Meizu Note5 which received strong market response, there is no doubt that the Meizu Note series has always been a highly competitive product in the thousand-yuan phone market.

With the Qualcomm chips and dual cameras, this year's Meizu Note 6 is clearly the most sincere product in the history of the Meizu Note series that meets user expectations. In addition, the starting price of 1,099 yuan has not changed its positioning in the thousand-yuan market due to hardware upgrades. The latest youth product continues to create the most worthwhile thousand-yuan mobile phone for users.
