China Passenger Car Association: Passenger car exports in August 2024 will reach 413,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 24%

The China Passenger Car Association recently released the domestic automobile export data for August. In August, the export of passenger cars (including complete vehicles and CKD) was 413,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 24% and a month-on-month increase of 9%. From January to August, the cumulative export of passenger cars was 3.04 million units, a year-on-year increase of 30%. Among them, the export of new energy passenger cars was 99,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 23.7% and a month-on-month increase of 7.6%, accounting for 24% of passenger car exports.

In terms of manufacturers, BYD exported the most new energy passenger vehicles in August, with 30,451 units, far ahead of other brands and accounting for 30% of the total new energy exports.

Tesla followed closely with an export volume of 23,241 vehicles. Although Tesla's Shanghai factory supplies multiple markets including Canada, North America, and Europe, its export sales in August were still 7,000 vehicles lower than BYD.

The third to tenth places are SAIC Passenger Cars (5,128 units), Chery Automobile (4,472 units), SAIC-GM-Wuling (3,427 units), Xpeng Motors (2,500 units), Great Wall Motors (2,394 units), Nezha Auto (1,489 units), Geely Auto (1,402 units), and BMW Brilliance (967 units).

The China Passenger Car Association said that as China's new energy vehicles' scale advantages become apparent and the market needs to expand, more and more new energy brand products made in China are going abroad and their recognition overseas continues to increase.

Although there have been some interferences from external countries recently, the export of independent plug-in hybrid vehicles to developing countries has grown rapidly and the prospects are bright.
