In the next few months, Apple Pay will be launched in Hong Kong, France, and Switzerland. In addition, what surprised users was that Apple announced that Apple Pay will launch a web version, which means that Apple Pay can also be used to pay through Safari in the future. At the same time, some functions of Apple Pay will be integrated into iMessage, allowing users to transfer accounts and send red envelopes while chatting. In short, Apple Pay will become more and more powerful and will soon become the first choice for users to pay online. However, Chinese users also expressed their views in time at the press conference: hehe. On February 18 this year, Apple Pay was officially launched in mainland China. Due to too many registered users in a short period of time, it even caused the server to crash. Excited users took their Apple phones to McDonald's, 711, KFC and other merchants to experience the speed and convenience of Apple Pay first. However, Apple seems to be too eager to seize the market and did not give users and merchants any time to adapt. So for a period of time afterwards, whenever I chose Apple Pay, I directly said "UnionPay QuickPass" so that the waiter could understand. The integration of payment functions in iMessage makes Chinese users a little "inexplicable". If this can be considered an innovation, then we have been experiencing it for more than two years. China's e-commerce development has always been at the forefront of the world. Online shopping has provided great convenience for users' lives. At the same time, online payment has also risen rapidly. Third-party payment platforms such as Alipay and WeChat have replaced the original payment methods, and mobile phone payment has become a new trend. In contrast, it is not difficult to find that Apple Pay is almost not a rival to Alipay and WeChat in any aspect, and even the value of pretending is slowly decreasing. Starting from binding a bank card, since Apple Pay directly cooperates with UnionPay, most bank cards with UnionPay logos are supported. The card binding process is not complicated and can be completed quickly. So what about the payment process? Just bring the NFC sensing area close to the dedicated POS machine, without entering a password (different banks may require a password), and the payment can be completed in just one or two seconds. The speed is extremely fast. Since there is no need for a network, the use environment is not restricted, which is much faster than WeChat and Alipay. But does it have other advantages besides speed? I'm afraid not! At present, Apple Pay can only be used on iPhones, and Android users cannot experience it, but the number of iPhone users is limited. If it cannot achieve full platform coverage, it is almost impossible to occupy the market. In addition, the number of merchants that support Apple Pay is really limited. It is understandable that Apple wants to create high-end ideas, but after all, not everyone has to go to Starbucks for coffee or Burger King for hamburgers every day. Braised chicken rice and braised spicy chicken are daily. We often see restaurants put up signs saying "Welcome to Alipay" and "Welcome to WeChat Pay" at the cash register , and even some roadside stalls will post large WeChat payment QR codes, so that users who don't have change or don't bring money can also sit down and eat a bowl of noodles. However, we rarely see the Apple Pay logo. In addition to the poor ground promotion, there are many other reasons. In addition to being fast, another important reason for using a third-party payment platform is that there are many discount opportunities. For example, Alipay will cooperate with many merchants. Whether it is a random discount or a full discount, it is very attractive to users. The same is true for WeChat Pay. In fact, whether it is online or offline, online payment can always get some extra discounts, but unfortunately, Apple Pay is not included . It's embarrassing. Habits are a very wonderful thing. They are slowly formed unconsciously. You may not find it, but if you suddenly take it away, you will immediately feel uncomfortable. Rather than saying that Apple Pay is fighting with Alipay and WeChat, it is better to say that it is fighting with user habits. Although it is faster, more convenient and safer, the habits formed over the years cannot be changed just by saying so. Even if users are willing to try new things, the recipient may not be willing. WeChat and Alipay can see the money directly entering their accounts, but Apple Pay cannot currently realize transfers between users, but it may be added in the future. At WWDC, Apple greatly praised the achievements of Apple Pay and painted a very bright future for users. However, these are all based on the US market. In mainland China, even if Apple Pay has a million advantages, it is not as good as a "discount for purchases over a certain amount". If Apple wants to get out of this predicament, it still has a lot to do.
