Samsung's Note 7 has frequently experienced overheating, burning, and explosion incidents around the world, causing a sensation in public opinion. Whether the phone can be recalled has once become a matter of great concern to Samsung users. However, Samsung has previously stated that it insists on not recalling the new smartphone Note 7 in China, arguing that the battery used in the Chinese version is safe. Unfortunately, just a few days ago, JD.com confirmed from information released by netizens that the exploded Note7 phone was the domestic version directly supplied by Samsung. Samsung said it was contacting the victim and checking the batches reserved by the domestic version. If there is a problem, it will be recalled together, and the specific details will be announced within 3 to 7 working days. So far, Samsung Electronics has recalled its latest smartphone Galaxy Note 7 worldwide on the grounds that some devices caught fire, and the battery production subsidiary of the technology giant, Samsung SDI, has been pushed into the spotlight. Why did the Samsung Note 7 explode? We know that before this, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine had issued a notice, and Samsung also issued an official statement that Samsung (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will recall some Galaxy Note 7 manufactured between July 20, 2016 and August 5, 2016 from September 14, 2016, with 1,858 units in mainland China. These products are test experience machines provided through channels such as the Samsung official website Galaxy Community before the official sale on September 1, 2016, through the old-for-new method. Through this series of events, we have enough reason to believe that there is indeed a problem with the battery of Samsung Note 7. So here comes the question, why did Samsung Note 7 explode? It is understood that the Note 7 batteries within the scope of this recall have a situation where the anode and cathode isolation membranes have become locally thinner. When the insulating tape does not completely cover the plate coating, a short circuit occurs, causing abnormal heating of the battery, and in extreme cases, combustion may occur. In response to this issue, a reporter previously interviewed Chen Liwei, a researcher at the Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Chen Liwei introduced that the lithium-ion battery used in mobile phone batteries realizes the charging and discharging function of the battery through the back and forth movement of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes. When charging, the current of the charger drives out the lithium ions in the positive electrode, and these lithium ions "swim" to the negative electrode through the electrolyte between the positive and negative electrodes; and when discharging, these lithium ions "swim" back to the positive electrode from the negative electrode through the electrolyte, providing power for the mobile phone to work. In this process, the positive electrode and the negative electrode must not be in direct contact, otherwise a short circuit will occur, causing abnormal heating of the battery, and even fire and explosion. How to ensure that the positive and negative electrodes inside the battery do not contact each other and there is enough electrolyte between them for lithium ions to "swim" back and forth? This is achieved through a key material in lithium-ion batteries-the diaphragm. Samsung used a thinner diaphragm this time. It is likely that mobile phone manufacturers used thinner diaphragm materials in order to increase the volume energy density of the battery and extend the battery life of mobile phones. However, due to lax quality control of the diaphragm material or process defects, the diaphragm became locally thinner and could not effectively isolate the positive and negative electrodes, thus causing battery safety problems. Why didn't the Chinese version of Samsung Note 7 recall all of them? As we mentioned earlier, Samsung recalled the Note 7 evaluation machine in the mainland, and recalled the affected 2.5 million Note7s worldwide, and repeatedly emphasized that the Chinese version of Note 7 uses a different battery supplier and there are no related safety hazards. However, soon after the announcement, the explosion of the Chinese version of Samsung Note 7 appeared on JD.com, which made us wonder, is there really no problem with the Chinese version of Note 7? After the incident, Samsung inferred that it was caused by external heating. This inference is actually pointing the finger at consumers, implying that users use it maliciously or friendly companies can discredit it. This unilateral statement is actually unconvincing. In addition, Samsung did recall some evaluation machines of the Chinese version of Note 7 before, which inevitably makes people question it. How to view the explosion of the Chinese version of Samsung Note 7 In fact, from the perspective of Samsung, as a large company, it will never choose to take risks just because it does not want to give up the Chinese market. You know how many competitors want to bring down Samsung, so the only explanation is that Samsung really believes that there is no quality problem with the battery of the Chinese version. This is a very simple question. You should know that when the battery scandal broke out, the Chinese version had not been officially released. If there was really a problem with the phone, Samsung could have recalled the dealer's goods in time and updated them to a problem-free version. This approach should be very low in cost compared to the current situation. Therefore, I believe Samsung should have confirmed that there was no problem with the battery supplier of the Chinese version of Note 7. We don't need to question Samsung too much. Can the Chinese version of Samsung Note 7 still be bought? So when this happened, another question followed. If the Chinese version was not recalled this time, it was just Samsung's own result, then can the Chinese version of Samsung Note 7 still be bought? In short, from the current information, the situation of Samsung Note 7 is not very clear. Various comments from the outside world are subjective. For probabilistic events, no one can guarantee whether the Chinese version of the phone is 100% safe, so before the situation becomes clear, it is recommended that everyone try to wait and see. What's more, many channels, including JD.com, have stopped selling Samsung Note 7. How to avoid mobile phone explosions? In fact, the large-scale explosion of Samsung mobile phones this time can be regarded as a wake-up call for everyone, letting everyone know that mobile phone explosions are so close to us. We mentioned earlier that the reason why Samsung Note 7 is prone to explosion is because the diaphragm becomes thinner, which is caused by the mobile phone itself. However, even so, we can actually avoid it through some methods. As for friends who use other mobile phones, they can also use these methods to avoid tragedies. 1. First of all, you can consider abandoning the fast charging supported by the mobile phone itself. Although fast charging technology is relatively mature at present, it is undeniable that when we perform fast charging, the battery of our mobile phone will experience a large degree of load, which will directly lead to an increase in the heat of the mobile phone. For some mobile phones with better quality control, this is still within an acceptable range, but if your mobile phone itself has some problems, then the increase in heat will be very dangerous. 2. Earlier we mentioned the choice of fast charging and general charging. In addition, we should also pay attention to choosing regular power banks. We know that many power banks support high-current charging, which will also put a load on the mobile phone battery, especially some unknown brand power banks. The hidden dangers are needless to say, so it is recommended that you do not use cheap knockoff power banks, which is also responsible for our own statement. 3. After preventing the risk of spontaneous combustion and explosion at the source, we must develop good habits. First of all, we need to ensure that the mobile phone is in a relatively safe position. Many people like to put their mobile phones next to or even under the pillow when they sleep. Not to mention that the mobile phone may explode and threaten the user's personal safety. From the impact point of view, if the mobile phone is really natural, it is likely to ignite the sheets and pillows, causing additional losses. Develop good habits, at least after the mobile phone has an accident, the harm can be minimized. 4. Try not to play with your phone for a long time. Long-term use of your phone will cause the phone temperature to rise, especially for those friends who like to wear a protective case for their phones. Because of the restraint of the protective case, the temperature loss of the phone will slow down, and everyone's perception of the phone's temperature will also decrease. If it really reaches the critical point, it is likely to be dangerous. Therefore, it is recommended that you try to let the phone cool down for a while after playing with it for a while before continuing to use it. 5. Then comes the soft level. Especially for Android phones, the background means multiple processes. This will increase the processor load and cause the phone temperature to rise. So you can develop the habit of handling the background of the phone regularly to prevent accidents. 6. Waterproof phones should be used with extreme caution. The waterproof function of mobile phones can be said to be a very practical function, but it also has certain drawbacks. In order to support waterproofing, many mobile phones have added a waterproof layer inside. While the waterproof layer is waterproof, it will also block the heat release of the phone. When the heat dissipation is full, the temperature accumulates inside the phone and is not easy to dissipate. It may also cause the internal temperature of the phone to rise, causing spontaneous combustion. Therefore, for waterproof phones, pay special attention to the above items. As a winner of Toutiao's Qingyun Plan and Baijiahao's Bai+ Plan, the 2019 Baidu Digital Author of the Year, the Baijiahao's Most Popular Author in the Technology Field, the 2019 Sogou Technology and Culture Author, and the 2021 Baijiahao Quarterly Influential Creator, he has won many awards, including the 2013 Sohu Best Industry Media Person, the 2015 China New Media Entrepreneurship Competition Beijing Third Place, the 2015 Guangmang Experience Award, the 2015 China New Media Entrepreneurship Competition Finals Third Place, and the 2018 Baidu Dynamic Annual Powerful Celebrity. |
