According to recent news, data showed that South Korea's two major chip giants, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, both achieved significant growth in sales in China last year. According to Samsung Electronics' annual financial report, the company's total exports to China last year reached 64.9 trillion won (about 324.1 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of 53.9%, slightly higher than its exports to the United States (61.3533 trillion won). Although the report did not detail the export items, chip sales accounted for the vast majority of the company's exports to China. Its Xian-based NAND flash memory manufacturing subsidiary, Samsung China Semiconductor Co., Ltd., posted sales of 11.2 trillion won last year, compared with 8.7 trillion won a year earlier. Its sales subsidiary Shanghai Samsung Semiconductor had sales of 30.1 trillion won in 2024, nearly doubling from 15.6 trillion won in the previous year. Meanwhile, SK Hynix's business in China has also seen solid growth, with the company's sales in China reaching 5.6 trillion won last year, up from the year before. Its Wuxi DRAM factory not only successfully turned losses into profits last year, with operating profits reaching 598.5 billion won, but also sales increased by 64.3% year-on-year and net profit increased by 65.4% year-on-year. |
