The annual Twitter Developer Conference was held in San Francisco, USA, at midnight on October 22, Beijing time, aiming to help developers learn more about how to use the Twitter platform to build the most popular mobile applications and expand their businesses. In the past few years, Twitter's platform has evolved to provide a series of essential services for mobile applications and data-driven enterprises.
At the Developer Conference, developers from around the world heard from Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey and key leaders in technology and business on how Twitter can help them and why: Fabric, a developer tool platform that helps build the most advanced mobile applications; Embedded Tweets to bring global conversations to your mobile apps and websites; Gnip, an enterprise API platform for business, unleashing the power of social data The Twitter platform, which consists of three products, can help companies build the best business. Eight highlights from Twitter Developer Conference
1 Introducing eight new services of Fabric Last October, Fabric launched with tools for mobile developers to solve problems such as stability, distribution, revenue, and identity. We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from the community on using these tools, and we have also seen some other needs in mobile development: scaling infrastructure, integrating payments, and running A/B tests. So today, we’re excited to introduce 8 new partners that are building services on Fabric: Stripe, AWS, Optimizely, Nuance, Appsee, GameAnalytics, Mapbox, and PubNub. With these new partners, it will be easier to build innovative mobile applications using Fabric. 2 From Fabric Labs: Released Unity technical support and iOS error logs At Fabric Labs, we’re always pushing the boundaries of what we can think of and coming up with new ideas. Today, we’re excited to share two new tools we’ve been building: a technical support tool for Unity, a popular game development engine, and a tool that can log errors on iOS. We understand that loading information into Unity projects has always been a cumbersome process. Instead, our beta version of Unity support tools aims to provide you with a completely smooth loading experience. Fabric's Unity support tools include Crashlytics, Twitter Kit, and MoPub. In addition, we have been working on developing a tool that can log errors on the iOS side. Now you can track the NSErrors you care about and explore how to improve the user experience when your mobile app is not perfect enough. Learn more on Crashlytics blog Today, Fabric is used in thousands of mobile apps, including the official NBA app and many professional NBA team apps. 3 Answers Audience Insights Over the past few months, we’ve been using mobile analytics to address another problem: many developers don’t know who is actually using their mobile apps: What are the demographics of their user base? What are their users interested in? Answering these questions is key to driving product and marketing decisions. Audience Insights is a combination of Answers and Twitter tools. With Audience Insights, you can quickly collect information and trends about who is using your mobile app. If you are expanding your market or looking for the most effective features you want to build, Audience Insights can provide the most reliable information you need to understand your users. Learn more about Audience Insights 4 Add fastlane to Fabric When we created Fabric, our goal was to provide everyone with the best tools to build the best mobile apps. Today, we are very excited to announce that fastlane is now part of Fabric. Fastlane is a popular continuous deployment and integration tool for iOS mobile apps, and has quickly become a must-have for mobile app developers everywhere. Developed by Felix Krause, fastlane brings you a set of open source command line tools that unify and automate your entire mobile app deployment process, saving you a lot of time! Thousands of developers are using fastlane now, and we are very happy to include this tool we admire in the Fabric tool platform collection. 5. Make sharing on mobile apps easier People love sharing their mobile activity. Whether it’s music they discovered, a high score from a recent game, a fitness routine, or another expression of a personal achievement or discovery, these moments become more powerful when people share them on Twitter. Sharing, in turn, drives discovery and growth from people’s followers. Today, we’re announcing two new features that make it easier for people to share and more effective for mobile app developers. ● This new tweet editor on TwitterKit lets people preview how their tweet will look when shared on the mobile app. They’ll feel more confident that their tweets on the mobile app represent their style, which in turn encourages more sharing. ● With the new tweet editor, developers can attach an install button to any shared tweet. On the Twitter app, the "Install" button will appear along with the tweet in the timeline. With this new editor, there is no need to publish a web page markup to promote app installation. Overall, these two features can encourage more sharing, which in turn leads to more discovery for your mobile app. 6. Introduction to publisher workflow, embedded forms, and Twitter Kit integration Every day, people use tweets to tell interesting stories. Whether it's an athlete rant before a game, a celebrity promoting a new movie, or a citizen discussing the current events of the day, or tens of thousands of interactions on Twitter, tweets often make the news. Five years ago, we pioneered the idea of "embedded social content to tell more interesting stories." Today, embedded tweets are still at the core of many media companies. At this year's developer conference, we announced an ecosystem of new tools to help you discover, organize and publish content through Tweets in your mobile app or website. Now you can easily edit Tweets into amazing stories to attract, engage and retain your audience - completely free. We also know that you need a powerful visual storytelling tool to truly inspire user participation, so we built an embedded grid to help you showcase your content in a rich, responsive and spreadable format. Media companies around the world, including CBS News, are using embedded Tweets to help them tell their stories. 7. Leverage the power of social data What would you do if you could access everything the world is thinking about at any given moment? This is a question you might ask yourself when analyzing real-time and historical Twitter data. Twitter has a range of APIs that can help you get the most out of what's happening on Twitter. From our easy-to-use APIs to the powerful Gnip Enterprise API Suite, Twitter offers software solutions for an entire ecosystem that many of the largest brands use to grow their businesses. Today, we’re launching two new APIs for Gnip that provide access to deep audience insights and content on Twitter. ● Audience API Beta ● Engagement API Beta These APIs ensure that new enterprise solutions that help companies make better decisions can tap into the global conversation happening on Twitter. 8. Twitter Customer Service We also know that Twitter is a hub for customer service activity. Every day, people engage directly with airlines, mobile operators, retailers, mobile app developers, and others to get help. We learned: ● According to Social Bakers, 80% of social customer service requests occur on Twitter. ● Our research also shows that the number of tweets from business customer service accounts has grown 2.5x over the past two years. ● According to a McKinsey and Nielsen study, the cost of resolving each customer service issue on Twitter is 1/6 of the cost of resolving it in a call center. Today at Developer Conference, we demonstrated how the flexibility of Fabric, the power of social data, and integration with customer service software can help businesses deliver engaging and exceptional customer service on Twitter. Functional tool recommendation Twitter provided developers with 20 upgrades and development tools at this year's developer conference, including: ● Fabric New best-in-class services available through Fabric We have established Fabric as the primary platform provider for developers to add new functionality to their mobile apps with just a few clicks. Answers Audience Insights ensures developers can get integrated user insights and other information The integration of fastlane and Fabric also greatly reduces the preparation time before submitting an app to the app store. It also supports the Android system. Tweet composer for mobile apps, which lets people preview photos they want to share, and lets mobile app developers attach install cards without calling a website. Twitter Timeline install actions can add an "Install" or "Open" button to tweets when shared on mobile apps. Twitter App Spotlight is a new pilot program for your business Twitter profile that adds a call to action button that allows people to download your mobile app directly from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Regression Detection allows developers to see failures across multiple versions of the same mobile app at a glance, thereby avoiding regression issues. iOS Logged errors (beta) lets developers log exceptions and other non-fatal events so they can view quality issues in their mobile apps on the Crashlytics dashboard. tvOS crash reporting support (beta). Crashlytics is now available on tvOS for Apple's upcoming Apple TV products. Unity support (beta) provides game developers with the convenience of using Unity with Crashlytics, Twitter Kit, and MoPub. Digits email support. MoPub Native Video Ads (beta) provides developers with a seamless user experience through natively distributed video ads, providing compelling monetization opportunities. Native display ads can reach more than 170 buyers on the MoPub Marketplace and support direct advertising partners. Twitter Audience Platform allows advertisers to amplify their mobile app campaigns across Twitter and thousands of popular mobile apps, reaching a potential audience of more than 700 million people worldwide. Embedded Tweets Twitter Curator, a free tool for discovering, organizing, and publishing tweets. An ecosystem of professional tools from TweetDeck, Dataminr, Flowics, ScribbleLive, Spredfast and Wayin to discover, organize and publish tweets. Twitter Publish, a new home for customizable embedded Tweets with embed codes available at publish.twitter.com. Gnip Audience API Beta Engagement API Beta An exciting new partnership with Techstars gives entrepreneurs access to Gnip to leverage Twitter data to create innovative new businesses. A satisfying customer service experience powered by the Twitter platform. Entering China?
Jeff, the product director of Twitter, mentioned: "Currently, there are 250,000 developers using Fabric, and Chinese developers account for the second largest proportion. Although Twitter cannot enter China, it can be used in other places, so it can reach overseas users. Developers want their apps to be connected with Twitter kit. For example, when a user takes a screenshot of a game on the app and sends it to his or her Twitter account through Twitter kit, it will be seen by his or her fans, which will also attract more users to the app. In addition, there is the Mopub advertising trading platform, where Chinese companies can push their own ads, not only on Twitter, but also on thousands of other mobile applications. Twitter will help Chinese companies go global in many ways. |
