WeChat is cracking down on third-party links! All illegal diversions will be blocked

As a "cosmic center", WeChat has always been the main channel for sharing various links. Many of them have gone to great lengths to attract traffic, and WeChat has been cracking down on them.

The WeChat Security Center announced that it has recently received a large number of user complaints that when opening some third-party APP links in WeChat, they will encounter pop-up windows misleading when reading the full text, forced jumps, and download third-party APs, which seriously affects the user experience.

In addition, the design of some pages can easily lead WeChat users to misunderstand that it is WeChat itself that restricts full-text browsing. But in fact, it has nothing to do with WeChat. Instead, it is a third-party platform that uses technical means to restrict page browsing channels. The fundamental purpose is to divert traffic and induce users to jump to their platform.

Violation Example 1: Cannot be fully displayed in WeChat

Violation Example 2: Design that can easily lead to misunderstanding

WeChat said that in the future, if external links violate relevant regulations such as the "WeChat External Link Content Management Specifications", "WeChat Open Platform Operation Specifications", and "WeChat Open Platform Developer Service Agreement", based on user complaints and after verification, depending on the severity of the violation, it will take the following actions, including but not limited to:

For such illegal links, starting from the early morning of December 21, 2020, the service of opening them directly in WeChat will no longer be available. Users can access them by "copying the link and opening it in the browser".

WeChat also emphasized that it is prohibited to use suspected official UI to induce external jumps, and it is prohibited to provide incomplete functions to induce or force external jumps.
