WeChat, which has been criticized for so long, finally came up with a feature worth praising

WeChat, which has always been "the best in the world", was hacked this time...

Here’s what’s going on:

On December 11, the WeChat Security Center official account released a tweet titled "Announcement on the Governance of Third-Party Illegal Diversion Links."

It said that it has received a large number of user complaints recently. When opening some third-party APP links in WeChat, they encountered the following situations when browsing: pop-up windows misled them when reading the full text, and forced them to jump or download third-party APPs .

Moreover, the design of its related pages is very easy for users to misunderstand, thinking that the restriction on full-text reading is the WeChat platform .

But in fact, WeChat has never provided similar functions and services . Some third-party platforms have restricted page browsing through technical means in order to divert traffic to their own apps.

Guohe just wants to say: WeChat is too late to realize it! I have seen this situation many times...

[[358913]]

As a social software, WeChat now has 1.2 billion users.

Guohe vaguely remembers that there was a topic on Weibo before about "If WeChat is banned by the United States, will users choose WeChat or iPhone?"

The final voting result was as expected, with WeChat receiving over 95% support, which is enough to prove the status of WeChat in our hearts.

Many people are like Guohe. Although they curse WeChat while using it... they all hope that WeChat can become better and better and provide more convenient services to users.

[[358914]]

But sometimes, good intentions provide convenience for others, but ultimately bring "disaster" to yourself.

Third-party companies have taken a fancy to WeChat's huge traffic pool and have extended their "claws" to WeChat. They use technical means to restrict page browsing channels and guide users to their own apps, but in the end, the "blame" is placed on WeChat.

I can only say that these companies are really too unethical...

[[358915]]

However, it is said that this style of opening through APP was first developed by the well-known foreign forum REDDIT (in which Tencent has a stake but not a controlling stake).

In this style, the button for opening the app using a browser is artificially changed to gray, so many users think that the gray button cannot be clicked and are forced to choose to download the APP.

Once there is a benefit, this kind of "sassy operation" will spread quickly...

Seeing this, some friends may ask, how does the third party know that I opened it on a mobile device?

Currently, when a mobile phone accesses a web page, generally speaking, UA is used to determine whether it is a mobile terminal.

The server will then judge in turn and output pages specifically for such requests, such as using a pop-up prompt such as "Open the APP to read the full text" to prevent users from continuing to browse content on the Web.

This phenomenon is actually very common, and Guohe felt it most deeply in Baidu and Sina News!

Those who have experienced it know that when you open Baidu on the web to search, no matter what you search for, you will be prompted to "open the Baidu APP to continue browsing."

[[358916]]

Previously, this problem was less severe and only appeared when searching for text content. Now Baidu has become more and more outrageous. Even after searching for pictures, if you want to view the full picture or download and save it, you will automatically jump to the APP download interface.

Sina News is the same, it goes to great lengths to get users to download the APP, which is really considerate!

[[358917]]

Now that we have strayed off topic, let’s get back to WeChat…

Unwilling to be "hacked", WeChat started to fight back . First, it denied that the above jump page was done by WeChat, and then reiterated the relevant provisions in the "WeChat External Link Content Management Specifications", "WeChat Open Platform Operation Specifications", and "WeChat Open Platform Developer Service Agreement" .

If the external link violates the above regulations, WeChat will no longer provide the service of opening it directly within WeChat starting from the early morning of December 21, 2020. Users can only access it by "copying the link and opening it in the browser".

Finally, WeChat also calls on third parties to operate reasonably and in compliance with regulations without disrupting user experience .

Even WeChat, which is urged to optimize its functions every day, is calling for user experience. I am really touched.... I won’t say more. This time I stand on WeChat!
