Apple iOS 15 Messages App has a bug that causes saved photos to be deleted

September 30 News Messages is a feature update launched by Apple when iOS 15 was released. Users can deeply integrate messages with other Apple apps, such as Apple News, Music and Photos. The new feature that promotes these connections is called "Share with You".

According to MacRumors, multiple users have reported that a bug in the iOS 15 Messages App may cause some saved photos to be deleted.

The specific manifestation of this bug is that if the user saves a photo from Messages and then deletes the message, the photo will disappear the next time an iCloud backup is performed.

To reproduce this bug, you can follow these steps:

  • Save photos from Messages to the camera roll;
  • Check if the photo has been saved;
  • Delete the source of the photo;
  • Do an iCloud backup and the photos will be gone.

MacRumors tested and found that this bug also exists in iOS 15.1 Beta 2, so Apple did not resolve it in the latest update.
