No longer restricted: Users can now rate iOS apps through the App Store

According to foreign media 9to5mac, for a long time, the App Store did not allow users to rate or comment on Apple's built-in iPhone and iPad applications such as Mail, Music, News, Stocks, and Calculator. However, it seems that since the release of iOS 15 earlier this month, Apple has now lifted this restriction.

Obviously, after this restriction was lifted, users' feedback on Apple apps poured in. According to statistics, the Podcasts app is currently the worst, with a score of only 2.0...

While Apple has given no reason to officially announce this policy change, it may be due to imminent competitive pressure that Apple has opened up this policy, as third-party apps are not allowed to hide their App Store ratings.

Users can now rate and review any Apple app that can be deleted and reinstalled through the App Store, while core system apps like Phone or Messages are exempt because they don't have an App Store listing.

Since the ability to rate and review is still fairly new, most of the native apps have only a few dozen ratings so far, but it’s conceivable that after upgrading to iOS 15, everyone with a grievance will rush to the App Store to leave their one-star “constructive” feedback.

It is reported that Apple Music, one of Apple's most popular services, has hundreds of reviews with an average rating of 3.7.

As mentioned earlier, Podcasts just crossed the 2-star mark as customers continue to complain about changes brought about by the iOS 14.5 app redesign. The Translate app only received 2.2 stars, with reviewers noting that it pales in comparison to the quality of translations provided by competing apps such as Google Translate. Apple News also failed to make the qualifying grade of 2.3 stars, with many reviewers complaining that the app repeatedly crashed when browsing articles.

No Apple app came close to the legendary 5-star rating. Voice Memos appears to be Apple's highest-rated built-in app right now, at 4 stars. Weather also fared relatively well, at 3.7 stars, with users praising the improvements brought about by the iOS 15 update.

The comments on the stock market seem particularly funny:
