In September, Apple launched the iOS 15 software update with an impressive set of new features and additional improvements. However, the adoption of iOS 15 has slowed down compared to iOS 14. According to statistics shared by analytics company Mixpanel, iOS 15 is currently running on only 65% of supported iPhone smartphones. In other words, only 60% of iPhone users have adopted iOS 15 since its debut in September. Softpedia pointed out that although the adoption rate of Apple's system updates is not low, iOS 15 is indeed much inferior to the early performance of iOS 14. Although iOS 14/15 support the same lineup of iPhone models, more than 80% of devices were running iOS 14 last year. In terms of functions, iOS 14 released last year mainly brought home screen widgets and support for new features such as picture-in-picture. As for the next major version of iOS 15, Apple is expected to release a preview at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) next summer and officially launch iOS 16 in September 2022. By then, the new system may abandon support for the iPhone 6s/6s Plus models, which were launched in 2015 and still have a very high share of users. Finally, there are rumors that Apple will launch a new iPhone SE 3 in the spring of 2022 to fill the gap in the entry-level iPhone smartphone market. |
