There's a scene in the movie where a Tyrannosaurus Rex chases a car and runs faster than it. While past research did estimate that Tyrannosaurus Rex could run up to 50 kilometers per hour, more recent and accurate simulations show that its running speed was approximately 20 to 29 kilometers per hour.
Tyrannosaurus Rex are good runners, but not as fast as depicted in the movies.
"One thing to remember is the maximum speed and the maximum speed that can be sustained," said Mariana Di Giacomo, a conservation expert at the Peabody Museum of National History at Yale University.
"Marathon runners can't keep up with sprinters because sprints are shorter, and it's impossible to maintain a high speed if the distance is too long."
"Perhaps a Tyrannosaurus Rex can run very fast over short distances, but it still can't outrun a car."
