The silver pheasant, also known as the white-crowned pheasant or white-crowned pheasant, is a small bird belonging to the pheasant family. They mainly inhabit the forests and grasslands of East Asia, including China, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and the Russian Far East.

The silver pheasant has distinctive plumage colors: a white crown, dark brown neck and back, and black and white stripes on its wings and tail. Males exhibit significant seasonal variation, with black crown feathers in summer and white feathers in winter. The silver pheasant has a grey beak and brown eyes.

Silver pheasants are gregarious birds that typically inhabit forests with diverse tree species. They are omnivorous, feeding on plant seeds, fruits, insects, and small invertebrates. During the breeding season, the male displays beautiful plumage to attract the female. They build simple nests and lay one or two eggs. The incubation period is 21-22 days, and the chicks are cared for by both the male and female after hatching.

The silver pheasant is a protected bird species, listed as a Class II protected animal in China. They are typically shy and difficult for humans to spot, so observing silver pheasants in the wild requires maintaining a quiet and respectful distance.
