In 2021, the number of births was 10.62 million, with a birth rate of 7.52%; the number of deaths was 10.14 million, with a death rate of 7.18%; and the natural growth rate was 0.34%. There are 504 million people in the country with a separation of household registration and residence, of which 385 million are migrant population.

II. Population data of 15 provinces in 2021

Following the release of the 2021 population data by the National Bureau of Statistics, 15 provinces including Guangdong and Henan have recently announced their 2021 population data.

Among the 15 provinces, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hubei ranked the top three in population growth; 12 provinces announced the 2021 birth data, Guangdong was the only province with a birth population exceeding one million, while the birth population of Henan, a populous province, fell below 800,000 for the first time since 1978. III. Population ranking of each province in the seventh national census in 2021

On May 11, 2021, the results of the seventh national census were announced. Among the 31 provinces, there were two provinces with a population of over 100 million, nine provinces with a population between 50 million and 100 million, 17 provinces with a population between 10 million and 50 million, and three provinces with a population of less than 10 million. Among them, the total population of the top five provinces accounts for 35.09% of the national population.

By region, the population of the eastern region was 563,717,119, accounting for 39.93%; the population of the central region was 364,694,362, accounting for 25.83%; the population of the western region was 382,852,295, accounting for 27.12%; and the population of the northeastern region was 98,514,948, accounting for 6.98%.
