Hong Kong iPhone 6 speculator ambushed and robbed by four gangsters

The iPhone 6 craze has not subsided yet. A couple in Hong Kong who were speculating on iPhone 6 were targeted by thieves. There were 17 iPhone 6s and cash totaling 150,000 yuan in their suitcases. They were robbed by four robbers downstairs of their apartment building in the early morning yesterday. After the two fought back, one of the robbers' masks was knocked off. Suspecting that their faces were captured by the on-site surveillance video, the robbers fled in panic.

The incident happened at 0:30 yesterday morning. A 44-year-old woman and her 39-year-old boyfriend, a couple who specialize in buying iPhone 6 speculators, returned to their home in Hung Hom with two suitcases containing about 17 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus worth HK$100,000 after having supper at a nearby restaurant in the early morning.

When the two were entering the password for the building's entrance, four thieves in their 20s wearing masks and dressed in black suddenly appeared from behind and surrounded them, attempting to steal their suitcases. The 44-year-old female victim, surnamed Dai, immediately threw her suitcase into the building, and one of the thieves followed. At the same time, the 39-year-old boyfriend, surnamed Huang, got into a fight with the other two thieves, during which he was pinned to the ground, while another thief stood guard nearby.

After the female victim ran into the building, she waved to the camera in the elevator for help, but the robbers followed her. During the struggle, the female victim took out a water bottle to defend herself and knocked off the robber's mask. Afterwards, the security guard estimated that the surveillance video in the elevator had captured the suspect's appearance. On the other hand, the man surnamed Huang outside the building broke free from the robbers, took back the suitcase and rushed into the lobby. Seeing that they had failed, the four robbers fled.

The two victims took the elevator to the lobby of the building, asked for help from the building security, and called the police themselves. Police officers arrived at the scene to investigate. Fortunately, the two people's iPhone 6 worth a total of HK$100,000 and cash of about HK$56,000 were safe and sound. Police officers patrolled nearby but did not find anything. The case was classified as an attempted robbery and assault case and was handed over to the 6th Team of the Kowloon City Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. The two victims were slightly injured and refused to be sent to the hospital.

The police are currently tracking down the whereabouts of four men involved in the case. The four men are approximately 20 to 25 years old and wore masks and black vests when committing the crime.
